LEGENDS: "Big One" strikes early at Rockingham, giving Bob Joseph the first last-place finish of his short career

Bob Joseph picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL NASCAR Legends Series career in the Season 4 Carolina 500 at the North Carolina Motor Speedway when his #07 Cunningham-Kelley Chevrolet was involved in a multi-car crash after 11 of the 49 laps.

The finish came in his 4th start. In the SCRL NASCAR Legends Series, it's the 2nd for car #07 and the 14th from a crash. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 4th for the #07 and the 212th from a crash.

Joseph was one of several rookie drivers looking to make a name for himself like so many others had done in the SCRL's longest active series. Joeseph signed on to compete full time and was looking to make a good first impression at the twisting road course at Riverside and did just that, finishing 6th after a race long battle with Brock Beard. A 15th at Ontario would show that the team had improved from the previous season but a 28th in the last round at Richmond would damper their spirits as the series returned to Rockingham for the seventh time in series history.

On race day, Joseph rolled off starting in 28th while starting last was the #32 Bestline Products Plymouth of Derrick Edison, a spot that Edison would hold for the first lap before he knocked back the #6 unsponsored Dodge of Adam McDowell into the final spot and was in the final spot when the first caution came out when Season 3 Champion the #27 unsponsored Ford of Cole Nixey was spun out on the backstretch and took the last spot. Nixey's car would be damaged as he smacked the inside wall with the left side of his car, pancaking the car as the team worked as hard as they could before sending their driver back out onto the track.

Nixey would be forced to ride around track with a damaged car, quickly losing a lap and would remain in the final spot for the next nine laps until the battle for last quickly ended. While battling for 5th, the #29 unsponsored Chevrolet of Marko Tellez made contact with the #3 Moss-Thornton Dodge, sending Tellez for a up the track before sliding back down across the track in front of the #4 Mills Plumbing Dodge of Mitchell Collins, whose car was completely destroyed for the second race in a row. While Collins would limp back around to the garage to finish 41st, a huge twenty car pileup would break out in Turn 2. Joseph had nowhere to go and slammed into by the #36 Coca-Cola Dodge of Eddie Wycombe, for Joseph his day was over as he was upside down, while Wycombe was able to limp back around to complete one more lap before pulling into the garage.

Rounding out the Bottom Five were two drivers who would be caught up in a Lap 24 wreck; 39th was the #97 Long-Lewis Ford of Ryan Rush and 38th was the #68 Auto Specialists / Auto Lad Ford of Trevor Collins.
