LEGENDS: Flat tire keeps Sammy Sabre Jr. trapped a lap down at Charlotte

Sammy Sabre Jr. picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL NASCAR Legends Series career in the Season 4 World 600 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway when his #10 unsponsored Ford finished under power after 39 of the 40 laps.

The finish came in his 10th start. In the SCRL NASCAR Legends Series, it's the 2nd for car #10 and the 40th where the car was still running. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 15th for the #10 and the 194th where the car was still running.

Sabre Jr. had never competed in the Legends Series before Season 4, but he had already proven himself to be one of the most improved and fastest rising rookies in the history of the SCRL, finding success almost instantly, having scored 7 career wins in various series, as well as being a former champion, winning the Season 1 SCRL CatDog Pro Series East Championship on the strength of two wins. Sabre Jr. signed up to drive the same car that Benoit Lothaire-Irvine had driven to victory lane at Darlington in Season 3 and finished 22nd in points.

In his first career start in the Legends Series, Sabre Jr. started 6th and used his past experience racing on road courses, taking the lead on the final turn on the final lap to score the win in his first ever start. A disappointing 40th at Ontario followed before scoring a 12th at Richmond and his second Top Ten of the season, a 9th at Rockingham. The next five races would be a struggle for the team as a 30th at Atlanta, 38th at Bristol, a decent 16th at Talladega, a 17th at North Wilkesboro before finishing 21st in the last round at Darlington.

On race day, Sabre Jr. rolled off starting in 29th while starting last for the second race in a row was the #75 Kentucky Fried Chicken Special Plymouth of Dilan Ebrahimian but as soon as the field entered Turn 2 on their lone pace lap, Sabre Jr. pulled to the apron of the track and rode around back to the pits, following the pace car onto pit road, as Sabre Jr.'s team quickly put on four fresh tires and sent their driver back out onto the track as the field quickly drove past Sabre Jr. coming out of the pits. While Sabre Jr. was able to catch back up and race with the pack, due to no cautions or wrecks happening during the season's longest race, he was unable to gain any spots, and was the lone driver to not finish on the lead lap when the checkered flag was flown.

The remaining Bottom Five finished on the same circuit as the race leaders; 41st was the #70 unsponsored Ford of Brock Beard, 40th was the aforementioned #75 of Dilan Ebrahimian, 39th was the #21 60 Minute Cleaners Mercury Cyclone of Bryan McKayson and 38th was the #99 Dow Chemicals Dodge of Joshua Rush.
