Whelen: Danyal Gitirokh becomes second driver in a row to score third last-place finish of the season after halfway crash at Riverhead

Danyal Gitirokh picked up the 3rd last place finish of his SCRL Icebreakers Whelen Series career in the Miller 200 at the Riverhead Raceway when his #57 M-M Stone Chevrolet was involved in a multi-car crash after completing 8 of 20 laps.

The finish, which came in his 21st career start, was his first on the circuit since the December 17 Weld-Built 150 also held at Riverhead Raceway where he completed 21 of the 22 laps under power, 5 races ago. In the SCRL Icebreakers Whelen Series, it's the 3rd for car #57 and the 8th from a crash. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 4th for the #57 and the 198th from a crash.

After scoring his second last-place finish of his career in the second Riverhead race, Gitirokh finished 17th at Catamount, 8th at Star, 7th at Thompson and finished 5th in the last round at Waterford.

On race day, Gitirokh rolled off starting 23rd while the #10 Bilsom Safety Chevrolet of Sammy Sabre Jr. started in the final spot. Sabre would trail the field for the first two laps before Thompson last-place finisher the #59 Space Fitters / Ed Bennett Prop. Chevrolet of Zachary Fitzwater took the final spot on Lap 3 and trailed the next two laps before the #121 of Ryan Pritchard took the final spot on Lap 6, but his stay lasted one lap before he knocked second New Egypt last-place finisher the #11 Marek Engineering Chevrolet of Evan Hunter on Lap 7 when chaos broke out the very next lap. The next lap, Gitirokh was spun out on the frontstretch as he made hard contact with the outside wall and knocking him out of the race.

The remaining Bottom Five were: 24th was the #18 Buoy One Seafood Restaurant Chevrolet of Chakat Whitelion, 23rd was the #121 of Ryan Pritchard, 22nd was the #38 P.A.S.E.
