Mark Owens picked up the 2nd last place finish of his SCRL Sun Energy Whelen Euro Elite 1 career in Round 10 at Circuit de Monaco when his #58 Tire Barn Ford completed all 8 laps under power.
The finish, which came in his 10th career start, was his first on the circuit since December 7, 2017, in Round 7 at Red Bull Ring where he also completed all 9 laps under power, 3 races ago. In the SCRL Sun Energy Whelen Euro Elite 1, it's the 2nd for car #58 and the 5th for running at the finish. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 6th for the #58 and the 144th for running at the finish.
Owens has struggled to make a name for himself in the SCRL and ever since his first career last place finish at Red Bull Ring, Owens finished 11th in the next round at Catalunya and a 5th at Hungaroring, which is his third best finish of his career after a 2nd in the series first race at Monza and a 3rd at Estoril.
On race day, Owens rolled off from the final spot when the green flag flew as drivers raced around the 19 turn 3.337 km(2.074 mile) street road course, and thanks to a tight race track and conditions, Owens struggled to and was unable to pass anyone despite two cautions flying during the event, easily giving Owen's his second last-place finish in the last four races.
The remaining Bottom Five were: 23rd was the #51 Bobcat of Buffalo Dodge of Toby Fox, 22nd was #57 unsponsored Ford of Mitchell Joey, 21st was two-time and current SCRLASTCAR championship points leader the #65 Bobcat of Buffalo / Husky Dodge of Adrian Ford and 20th was the #39 Sweeteners Plus Chevrolet of Matt Hamill.
