Throwback CUP: Kyle Mests gets first last place-finish in the cup series in caution free race at Langhorne

Kyle Mests picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL Strictly Stock Series career at the Langhore Speedway when his #24 unsponsored Plymouth completed all 10 laps under power.

The finish came in his 4th start. Mests had proven himself in the SCRL as he had scored four career wins in several other series before signing up for the biggest series the league had to offer. Mests finished an impressive 3rd in the series first ever race at the Charlotte dirt track, finishing 17th in the series first ever road course event at Beach & Road Course before finishing a disappointing 37th at Hillsborough in the last round.

The entry list for the Langhorne race was a twenty one car field, the smallest in series history, as half of the drivers decided to race this event while the other half chose to race at the Hamburg Speedway that was being held the same day.

On race day, Mests would roll off starting in the 6th spot while the #28 Oldsmobile of Cam Nixey would roll off in the last spot. Due to the lack of cautions, the racing action was intense at both the front of the field and the rear as by the end of the 10th lap, Mests had found himself trailing the field, scoring his first last-place finish.

Rounding out the Bottom Five was drivers who finished on the same lap as the race leaders; 20th was the #2 unsponsored Ford of Dexter Black, 19th was the #7 Hudson of Evan Hunter, 18th was the #46 Chrysler of Rubens Wanderley and 17th was the #190 Oldsmobile of Luke Rainey.

Mests career at this point was on the decline as Mests never visited victory lane since before the series started, but the driver does still compete now and then in several SCRL Series.
