West: Maestro Polla's mechanical failure gives him first last place finish at at Mesa Marin

Maestro Polla picked up the 1st last-place finish of his SCRL CatDog Pro Series West career in today's Spears Manufacturing 300 at the Mesa Marin Raceway when his #17 MMI Services / Steak & Grape Chevrolet fell out with camshaft trouble after 2 of the 30 laps.

The finish came in Polla's 4th career series start.

Coming into the CatDog Pro Series West, Polla had like many others yet to make a mark in the SCRL but in the second event earlier in the season, Polla would finish an impressive 5th at Auto Club and a 15th at Pikes Peak in the last round.

Starting last on the field was the #30 Holleran's Performance Toyota of Daniel Bouchard but his stay in last would only last the first few turns as Phoenix last-place finisher the #55 First Impression Press / Hinkley Lighting Toyota of Oscar Isaac, who finished last at Phoenix earlier in the season would trail the field for the first and second laps when the event's lone caution came out. As the field rode around during the caution laps, the #17 of Polla began smoking as he pulled off the track and into the garage as the crew found that the camshaft had broken.

Finishing 28th was the #22 Century Boatland Chevrolet of Colin Dryburgh, who was the only other driver to not finish on the lead lap.

Rounding out the bottom five were drivers who finished the race under power: 27th was the #12 unsponsored Toyota of Real Mentemalo, 26th the #88 Pick-N-Pull Chevrolet of Steve Larker and 25th the #21 Rockwell / Golden Gate Meat / Bay Bio Diesel Chevrolet driven by Von Kasier.

SCRLASTCAR STATISTICS
*This was the first time the #17 finished last at Mesa Marin.
*This is the first time the #17 has trailed the field since Jesse Turner was involved in a multi-car crash after completing 1 of 9 laps in the Pre-Season 1 Budweiser 400 at the Riverside International Raceway; 4 races ago.
