East: Luke Rainey becomes first driver to fail to complete a lap in the SCRL CatDog Pro Series East history

Luke Rainey picked up the 2nd last place finish of his SCRL CatDog Pro Series East career in today's Road Atlanta 115 at Road Atlanta when his #1 NASCAR Technical Institute / UTI Toyota failed to complete any of the 10 laps.

The finish, which came in his 5th career start, was his second of the season and his first since Daytona, four races ago. With fifteen races to go, Rainey takes over the SCRLASTCAR Championship lead with one more last place finish over his challengers.

Starting last on the field was the #22 Oakley / Bruster's Ice Cream Dodge of Cam Nixey but his stay in last would only last a few seconds as during the pace lap, Luke Rainey, who was to start in 28th, began to start smoking down the backstretch, reporting of a engine that was running sour, and as the field passed him, Rainey stayed out of the racing groove to try and prevent any oil dropping on the track before turning into the garage, his car officially retired by the time drivers reached turn three.

Rounding out the bottom five was completed by the fifth lap as a string of big wrecks would result in several hard hits. The #73 Celtic Waste Dodge of James Stabilito and the #6 Toyota Racing Development Toyota of Simon Fox would both be involved in crashes on the first lap, locking up 35th and 34th respectively. One lap later the #31 Integrated Metal Products Toyota of Maria Valera and the #2 UTI / NASCAR Technical Institute of Sebastian Torres would be involved in their own wreck and would be placed in the final two spots.
