BUSCH: Race long battle at Charlotte ends with Chakat Lightingblaze scoring hir first last-place finish

Chakat Lightingblaze picked up the 1st last place finish of hir SCRL Busch Grand National Series career in Sunday's Mello Yello 300 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway when hir #17 Hodgdon Pontiac completed all 40 laps under power.

The finish occurred in hir 7th career series start. In the SCRL Busch Series, it's the 2nd for car #17 and the 29th for running at the finish. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 10th for the #17 and 296th for running at the finish.

Entering Season 3 of the Busch Series, Lightingblaze, who is the daughter of league owner Blaise Zebrataur and 7 time SCRL Champion and the defending Busch Series Champion Chakat Whitelion, has a lot of pressure on hir paws as shi tries to live up to the families success in the league and has done a great, having won the first championship of hir career by winning the ISCR Coca Cola Canadian Super Series Championship and has picked up 6 wins in hir SCRL career. In order to prepare hir for a full time racing career, it was decided by Blaise and Whitelion that their daughter would race part-time in Season 3 with plans of hir to go full time in the next year.

Lightingblaze's Busch career would last only one lap as shi was caught up in the race's "Big One" that broke out seconds after the race started, placing hir 38th. Lightingblaze would skip the next round at Richmond, coming back at Rockingham where shi would finish 26th. After skipping the first race at Hickory, Lightingblaze would finish a series best 5th at Martinsville before finishing 18th in the next race at Darlington, before shi would sit out the next three races at Orange County, Nashville and Langley as shi would come back and finish 31st at Milwaukee Mile before finishing 9th in the last round at Dover.

The entry list for the seventh time this season would have both full and part-time drivers racing against each other as the series traveled to Concord, North Carolina in the series first ever stop of the season at the 1.500 mile speedway.

In qualifying, Season 1 Champion Jack Lagasee won his second busch pole of the season with a lap time of 30.423 seconds. Lightingblaze would struggle in qualifying, posting a time of 30.721, 0.298 seconds off Lagasee's pole, placing hir 32nd overall. Posting the slowest time in qualifying was points leader the #5 Advance Auto Parts Buick of Chakat Whitelion, who posted a time of 30.806 seconds, 0.383 seconds behind Lagasee's pole winning time.

On race day, Whitelion would get a slow start as shi would lose touch with the pack for the lap as shi would trail for the first lap before getting a hold of hir Buick before finally gaining a position as shi would knock the #42 Benefit Development Pontiac of Jake Thomas who would trail for the second lap, but Thomas's stay in last would also last only one lap before he knocked the #4 Thurman Enterprises Pontiac of Corrie Scott into the final spot on Lap 3. Scott would remain in the final spot for only one lap as well before knocking Darlington last-place finisher the #6 Mason Day Paving / Valvoline Oldsmobile of Chris Kyle into last on Lap 4. Kyle would remain in the final spot for the three laps before knocking Martinsville last-place finisher the #0 Hendrick Honda Pontiac of Sebastian LeNoble into last on Lap 8 but would stay in that spot for only one lap before knocking Rockingham last-place finisher the #21 Chattanooga Chew Pontiac of Derrick Edison into last on Lap 9.

Edison would remain in last for two laps before knocking the #30 RC Cola Pontiac of Chakat Duskwatcher into last on Lap11, a place shi would stay in for only one lap before knocking the #13 D & D Tattooing Pontiac of Chakat Blackpaw into last on Lap 12. Blackpaw would trail for two laps before shi would knock Lightingblaze into last for the first time on Lap 14. Lightingblaze was a fighter to not finish last for the third time in hir SCRL career, as shi would remain in last for one lap, knocking the #26 Jackson & Johnson Oldsmobile of Nick Kennedy into last on Lap 15. Kennedy would trail for two laps before knocking the #71 Taylor Togs / Maxie's Vending Pontiac of Muhammad Zain Abdullah into last on lap 17, a position he would hold for two circuit before knocking second in points the #15 Hendrick Honda Pontiac of Chase Miller into last on Lap 19. Miller would get a run the next lap and he would knock Blackpaw back to last on Lap 20, before Blackpaw would knock Hickory last-place finisher the #07 Bob Banning Pontiac of Jeff White into last on Lap 21. White's stay in the final spot would last just one lap before knocking Abdullah back to last on Lap 22, as Abdullah would remain in last for three laps before knocking the #23 Miller High Life Oldsmobile of Samet Ozkan into last on Lap 26 before knocking Edison back to last on Lap 27, a spot he was holding when the race's lone caution came out.

While running in, the #99 Nelson Building Supply Pontiac of Aaron Lewis was spun out after contact from the #53 of John Smith after contact from two time last-place finisher the #28 Skoal Bandit Pontiac of Jack Lagasee as Smith would come down the track and spun out Lewis, who backed into the outside wall, damaging the backend of his car. Lewis would pit for repairs but not much was down by his team as the field went back to racing as Lewis would trail until four laps to go when he knocked Lightingblaze back to last, as shi would trail for the remaining laps.
