BUSCH: Flat tire at start of the race keeps Riley Spurlytube last flag to flag at Darlington; now tied with Bulldog67 and Nick Kennedy for most all time last-place finishes

Riley Spurlytube picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL Busch Grand National Series career in Saturday's Darlington 200 at the Darlington Raceway when his #32 Econo Lodge / Budweiser Pontiac completed all 20 laps under power.

The finish occurred in his 87th career series start. In the SCRL Busch Series, it's the 3rd for car #32 and the 38th for running at the finish. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 15th for the #32 and 305th for running at the finish.

Entering Season 3 of the Busch Series, Spurlytube is one of the most successful drivers in league history, having scored 18 career wins, two of which coming in the Busch Series but he had never won a championship until he competed in Season 1 of the CART Series, as Spurlytube would win three races and go on to win his first ever SCRL Championship. With his first ever championship crossed off his list, Spurlytube decided to come back for his third straight full-time season in the busch series, with hopes of keeping his streak of two seasons in a row with a win alive. Spurlytube's season started off in a horrible way, being caught up in the race's first "Big One" and finishing 36th. A 7th at Richmond would be followed by a 35th at Rockingham, 13th at Hickory, 21st at Martinsville, 28th in the first Darlington event, 9th at Orange County, 12th at Nashville, 24th at Langley and a 28th at Milwaukee before Spurlytube would steal his first win of the season at Dover. A disappointing 27th at Charlotte would be followed by a 4th at South Boston, 5th at the second Hickory event, 7th at the second Orange County event, 31st at the second South Boston event, 24th in the third Orange County event, 10th in the third Hickory event, 14th at IRP, 6th at the second Langley event, 34th at the third South Boston event before finishing 10th in the last round at Bristol.

The entry list for the 13th time this season would have both full and part-time drivers racing against each other as the series traveled to Darlington, South Carolina in the series second and final stop at the 1.366 speedway in Season 3.

In qualifying, Celious Wolf would score his first career busch pole with a lap time of 32.335 seconds. Spurlytube would impress in qualifying, posting a time of 32.468, 0.133 seconds off Celious's pole, placing him 10th overall. Starting last in the race was the #46 Hoopaugh Grading Pontiac of Ignazio Alberti who posted a time of 32.802 seconds, 0.467 seconds behind Celious's pole winning time.

As the field rolled off for it's lone pace lap of the night, Spurlytube pulled to the inside of the track, reporting to his team that something felt off on the car, before quickly realizing it was a flat left rear tire. Spurlytube would cost on the apron of the track and followed the pace car down pit road as the field took the green flag. Spurlytube's crew would quickly give their driver four fresh tires and sent him back out onto the track. Spurlytube would prevent himself from going a lap down but was half a track behind as he was hoping and begging for a caution, but the racing gods were not on Spurlytube's side, as the entire race was ran caution free, with Spurlytube trailing the field by more then twenty seconds when the checkered flag waved.
