BUSCH: Early crash keeps Jack Lagasee last at IRP; now tied with Keith Stevens for most last-place finishes in the Busch Series

Jack Lagasee picked up the 4th last place finish of his SCRL Busch Grand National Series career in Tuesday's Kroger 200 at the Indianapolis Raceway Park when his #28 Skoal Bandit Pontiac completed all 20 laps under power.

The finish, which occurred in his 83rd career series start, was his first on the circuit since the Hampton 200 at the Langley Field Speedway when he completed all 20 laps under power; 10 races ago. In the SCRL Busch Series, it's the 4th for car #28 and the 35th for running at the finish. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 16th for the #28 and 302nd for running at the finish.

Ever since trailing at Langley, Jack has been looking to rebound but didn't turn out well as he would finish 38th at Milwaukee Mile, 29th at Dover, 26th at Charlotte and a 33rd at South Boston, before scoring his first win of the season at the second Hickory event. A 11th at the second Orange County event would be followed with a 38th at the second South Boston race before scoring back-to-back 5th finished at Orange County and Hickory.

The entry list for the tenth time this season would have both full and part-time drivers racing against each other as the series traveled to Clermont, Indiana in the series lone stop at the 0.686 mile short track.

In qualifying, rookie Aaron Lewis would surprise by winning his first busch pole with a lap time of 23.404 seconds. Jack would struggle in qualifying, posting a time of 23.673, 0.269 seconds off Aaron's pole, placing him 19th overall. Starting last in the race was third Orange County last-place finisher the #5 Advance Auto Parts Buick of Chakat Whitelion who posted a time of 24.015 seconds, 0.611 seconds behind Aaron's pole winning time.

On race night, Whitelion would trail for the first two turns before knocking the #16 Big Orange Market Pontiac of Juniper Skunktaur back to last as Juniper would trail for the first lap but he was determined to not finish last for the first time in his Busch career as the next lap by he knocked Dover last-place finisher the #3 Wendy's Chevrolet of Michael Creed into last on Lap 2. Creed would trail for one lap as well, knocking third Hickory last-place finisher the #12 unsponsored Ellis Racing Pontiac of Tyler Mills into last on Lap 3, a position he would hold for two laps when the battle for last came to an end.

While battling for 21st, Jack made contact with first Hickory last-place finisher the #07 Bob Banning Pontiac of Jeff White, sending Jack into the inside of the track, hitting the concrete wall with the driver's side of the car before heading down the backstretch without losing much speed and came back across the track, barely hitting Darlington last-place finisher the #6 Mason Day Paving / Valvoline Oldsmobile of Chris Kyle before the car turned to the right side, right in front of Whitelion, who hit the back end of Jack's car, giving it major damage to it and the frontend of Whitelion's car as well  as the frontend of Juniper's car, who tried to slow down as he came up on the crash but didn't have enough time to stop. All three cars would make pit stops during the caution to try and repair as much damage as they could, with Jack trailing for each lap. When the green flag came back out, it was clear all three cars were severely damaged, quickly losing touch with the drivers in front of them, with Jack having the most damage, he would trail for the remaining laps, falling a full second behind the car in front of him and over fourteen seconds behind when the checkered flag waved.
