BUSCH: Broken Clutch early at Richmond gives Jack Lagasee his 6th last-place finish in series history; now tied with Carter Joey and Truttle for 5th on the all time list

Jack Lagasee picked up the 6th last place finish of his SCRL Busch Grand National Series career in Sunday's Miller 150 at the Richmond Fairgrounds Raceway when his #28 Skoal Bandit Pontiac fell out with clutch problems after completing 6 of the 40 laps.

The finish, which occurred in his 88th career series start, was his first on the circuit since the Busch 200 at the Langley Field Speedway when he completed all 20 laps under power; 4 races ago. In the SCRL Busch Series, it's the 6th for car #28 and the 2nd for clutch issues. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 18th for the #28 and 8th for clutch issues.

After trailing for the fourth time this season at Langley, Jack as his team was looking to try and end the season on a high note, but was unable to find it as he finished 23rd in the third South Boston event, 13th at Bristol before finishing 36th in the last round at Darlington, as Jack and his team would travel back to Richmond, the site of his first Busch Series win, but a track he had finished last at earlier in the season.

The entry list for the 11th time this season would have only full time drivers as the series returned to Richmond, Virginia in the series second and final stop at the 0.542 short track in Season 3.

In qualifying, Chakat Duskwatcher would score hir first career busch pole with a lap time of 21.753 seconds. Starting last in the race was Milwaukee Mile last-place finisher the #2 Kopy King Pontiac of Derek Greene who posted a time of 22.133 seconds, 0.380 seconds behind Duskwatcher's pole winning time.

On race day, Greene's stay in last was only for a few seconds as he knocked Charlotte last-place finisher the #17 Hodgdon Pontiac of Chakat Lightingblaze into last as shi would trail for the first lap, before knocking Jack back to last for the first time in the race on Lap 2. Jack would trail for one lap before knocking third Orange County last-place finisher the #5 Advance Auto Parts Buick of Chakat Whitelion into last on Lap 3. Whitelion's stay in last would also be only for a lap before knocking fall Darlington last-place finisher the #32 Econo Lodge / Budweiser Pontiac of Riley Spurlytube into last on Lap 4. Spurlytube was determined to not finish last in back-to-back races as he knocked the #7 unsponsored Ed Whitaker Racing Oldsmobile of Blaise Zebrataur into last on Lap 5, a position Blaise would hold for two laps until the battle for last ended.

While running in 21st, Jack's car was exiting Turn 4 when his car suddenly started to smoke heavily, with Jack using his veteran instinct and pulled to the inside of the track as the field raced by, Jack reported to his crew that the clutch was broken, as Jack's car would limp through Turn 1 before stalling in Turn 2, bringing out the race's lone caution of the day. Jack's car would fall back to last on Lap 7 as the car was towed back to the garage, with the crew working hard to try and fix the broken clutch but would finally give up the fight as the car was listed "out" on Lap 10.

Rounding out the Bottom Five were drivers who finished on the same lap as the race leaders: 24th was the unsponsored #1 Lindy White Racing Pontiac of David Beyers, 23rd was the aforementioned #7 of Blaise Zebrataur, 22nd was the #32 of Riley Spurlytube and 21st was third Hickory last-place finisher the #12 unsponsored Ellis Racing Pontiac of Tyler Mills.
