IROC: Flat tire at the start keeps Draco Drakul one lap down at Michigan; SCRLASTCAR Championship battle set for Talladega

Draco Drakul picked up the 3rd last place finish of his SCRL IROC Series career in Race 3 at the Michigan International Speedway when he completed 19 of the 20 laps under power.

The finish, which came in his 19th career start, was his first on the circuit since this race in Season 2 where he completed all 20 laps under power, 21 races ago. In the SCRL IROC Series, it's the 2nd for car #6 and the 15th for running at the finish. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 13th for the #6 and the 153 for running at the finish.

Draco is one of the most longest active racers in the entire history of the SCRL, having competed since nearly the first series ever was raced, having picked up a mild case of success, with four wins in total, two of which came in this very series, Season 3, which was also the season Draco picked up his lone championship. Several rough years of competing on a part-time ride has cut into possibly more wins but being a former champion locked him into Season 7, the first time Draco drove an IROC car since Season 4. Draco's season got off to a hot start, leading 5 laps before finishing 3rd at Daytona before struggling at Myrtle Beach and finishing 9th.

On race day, Draco was scheduled to roll off starting 9th while Myrtle Beach last-place finisher the #1 of Jonathan Raines started from last, but just seconds after the field took the green flag, Draco pulled to the inside of the track, stalling on the frontstretch, however no caution would come out as Draco would be towed back to pit road. It was discovered that Draco had suffered a flat left rear tire, and as soon as it was changed, Draco drove back out on the track, already a full lap down to the lap leaders by the start of the second lap. Due to the lack of cautions, Draco was unable to gain any spots and easily finished last, the only car not on the lead lap.

Rounding out the Bottom Five was: 11th the #5 of Chakat Whitelion, 10th the #12 of Bulldog67, 9th the #3 of Colin Dryburgh and 8th the #4 of Leroy Jones.

Entering the final race of the season at Talladega, Draco Drakul, Jonathan Raines and Richard Torres are all tied at 1 last-place finish, if any of them finish last, they will lock up the championship, if anyone else finishes last it will come down to a tie breaker between the three drivers and the other who finishes last.
