CANADA: Late tire problems makes Grayson Acevdeo last at ICAR

Grayson Acevdeo picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL Tim Hortons Canadian Series career in the Season 2 ICAR Lucas Oil Grand Prix at Circuit ICAR when his #3 Snap-on Tools / Vortex Brake Pads Dodge completed all 8 laps under power.

The finish came in his 14th career series start. In the SCRL Tim Hortons Canadian Series, it's the 3rd for car #3 and the 4th for running at the finish. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 13th for the #3 and the 154th for running at the finish.

Grayson is one of many drivers had has found success, having raked up seven career wins in his career, but has yet to visit victory lane in the Canadian Series as well looking for his first championship in the SCRL. Having competed in Season 1, where his best finish was a 8th at Motoplex Speedway & Event Park, Acevedo was looking to use his past experience at those tracks for Season 2 and looking to improve on his 26th points finish in Season 1. Acevedo's season started off with a 10th at CTMP, the same track he finished 15th in Season 1.

On race day, Acevedo would roll off the field starting 16th while starting last was the #14 Steel-Craft Door Products Chevrolet of Josh Nixey. Nixey's stay at the back of the pack wouldn't last long as within the first turn, the #15 Bill Mathews Motors Ford of Bafode Sacko, who had started 13th, got loose going in Turn 1 and spun out, no caution would come out, but Sacko was several seconds behind the leaders as no cautions would fly for the first five laps. A caution with two laps to go would set up a Green, White, Checkered. Just as the field was able to start the attempt, Grayson slowed and then pulled on pit road, as the right rear tire had been cut during the pace laps. Acevdeo's crew was able to get him back out on track, but the damage was already done, finishing twenty two seconds behind the race leaders.

Rounding out the Bottom Five were: 26th was the #90 Veloce / Gamache Truck Center Dodge of Marko Tellez, 25th was aforementioned #14 of Josh Nixey, 24th was the #89 Keltic Ford / Nova Construction Ford of Ryan Rush and 23th was the #15 of Bafode Sacko.
