Euro Elite 2: Chakat Silverpaw becomes first driver to get back-to-back last-place finishes after early wreck at Spa Francorchamps

Chakat Silverpaw picked up the 2nd last place finish of his SCRL Sun Energy Whelen Euro Elite 2 career in the Round 3 at Circuit de Spa Francorchamps when his #73 Knauf Ford was involved in a single car crash after 3 of the 6 laps.

The finish came in his 3rd career start, was his first on the circuit since September 5, 2018 in Round 2 at Brands Hatch when he completed all 10 laps under power, 1 race ago. In the SCRL Sun Energy Whelen Euro Elite 2, it's the 2nd for car #73 and the 1st for reason by crash. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 2nd for the #73 and 190th for reason by crash.

After finishing scoring his first last-place finish at Brands Hatch in the last round, Chakat Silverpaw was looking for redemption as the series visited Francorchamps, Belgium for the series first ever event at at Circuit de Spa Francorchamps.

For the second race in a row the entry list grew once again, making the race a 13 car field as the #24 of Makaboo made his return to the SCRL. Makaboo has found success in the SCRL, having ranked up five career wins and was looking to have a good run for his first race in several months.

On race day, Silverpaw would roll off starting in the 6th spot while Monza last-place finisher the #1 Leonessa Group Ford of Jason Larker trailed the field when the Green Flag flew. It took only five turns before chaos broke out as Silverpaw lost control of his car, spinning out in front of half of the field as the #5 Orion Ford of Dale Jones nailed Silverpaw in the side, damaging both cars while Larker also was involved, as Larker limped across the start finish line in last as the field made their way around the track under caution. Jones limped around the track to pit road, being scored in last on Lap 2 as the crew worked hard to repair the damage while Silverpaw's crew did the same. Jones was able to repair his damage, while Silverpaw's car leaked oil and drove around to complete Lap 3, before pulling into the garage, deciding to not risk leaking oil on the track as the race was extended two more laps due to the Green, White, Checkered rule.

Finishing 12th was the aforementioned #1 of Jason Larker, who would crash into the Turn 9 fence just shortly after the race was extended by way of the Green, White, Checkered rule, however no caution was brought out, his day was done just before the White Flag flew.

The remaining Bottom Five finished on the same lap as the race leaders; 11th was the #33 Mavi Jeans Chevrolet of Soran Taheri, 10th was the #27 Whelen Chevrolet of Jimmy Potter and finishing 9th was the Whelen Euro Elite 2 debut of the #24 LeasePlan-Banden MD Chevrolet of Makaboo, who kept his car clean all race long.
