The finish came in his 3rd start. Handley was one of many drivers looking to make a name for himself in the SCRL's biggest series. He would finish a disappointing 34th in his series debut at Charlotte, followed up by finishing 30th in the series's first road course event at Beach & Road Course in Daytona Beach.
On race day, Handley would roll off starting in the 19th spot while the #00 Oldsmobile of Marcos Alejandro would roll off in the last spot, a place he would hold onto as the cars completed their first lap when entering Turn 3, the battle for the last spot ended quickly. Handley was still in 19th at the time when entering Turn 4, his car went up the track into the #40 Ford of Gatlin Downey, with both cars bumpers locking, the cars went head on into the concrete wall. Handley's and Downey's car were both completely destroyed, but Handley was given last due to him being scored below Downey at the last scored lap.
Finishing 39th was the #77 Oldsmobile of Rodriguez Zapatos, who got damage in the same wreck, but was able to limp around for another lap to be scored higher. Rounding out the Bottom Five were two drivers who were taken out in the second and final caution; 38th the #1 Hudson of Daniel Bouchard and the #24 Plymouth of Kyle Mests, both taken out on a Lap 10 crash.
Handley's career would best be described as somewhat successful, as he picked up two career wins, both in the SCRL ARCA Racing Series, at the road course at New Jersey Motorsports Park, and two events later at Chicagoland. Handley hasn't competed a full time scheduled in quite awhile, but does pop up now and then for special series.
