Derrick Edison picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL Sun Energy Whelen Euro Elite 1 career in Round 2 at Brands Hatch when his #29 Marlboro Chevrolet completed all 10 laps under power.
The finish came in his 2nd career start. In the SCRL Sun Energy Whelen Euro Elite 1, it's the 1st for car #29 and the 1st for running at the finish. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 2nd for the #29 and the 120th for running at the finish.
Derrick Edison is one of many drivers still looking to make a name for himself in the SCRL, having only one career win in his entire career, that coming in Season 2 of the SCRL Rainbow Dash Truck Series when he won the Lund Look 225 at the Heartland Park Topeka. Ever since then, Edison has struggled to make a mark and was hoping to make a comeback in the highest division in the Whelen Euro Series. In his debut for the series, Edison finished 5th at Monza and had high hopes for the second event of the season.
On race day, Edison would roll off starting in the 21st spot while the #32 Sweeteners Plus Chevrolet of Max Anderson rolled off the grid in the final spot. By the end of the first lap, Anderson has knocked the #80 Monster Energy Ford of Tim Randolph back to last spot before Randolph passed Anderson on Lap 2, who trailed till Lap 4 when Edison entered the battle. No matter what he tried, Edison was never able to get back around Anderson, and the two finished 24th and 23rd.
The remaining Bottom Five finished on the same lap as the race leaders; 22nd went to the #75 Ray's Body Shop Dodge of Adrian Ford, 21st went to the #57 unsponsored Ford of Mitchell Joey and finishing 20th was the #24 DuPont Chevrolet of Nitahbk.
