Euro Elite 2: Chakat Silverpaw gets first last-place finish in league history at Brands Hatch

Chakat Silverpaw picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL Sun Energy Whelen Euro Elite 2 career in the Round 2 at the Brands Hatch when his #73 Knauf Ford completed all 10 laps under power.

The finish came in his 2nd career start. In the SCRL Sun Energy Whelen Euro Elite 2, it's the 1st for car #73 and the 2nd by running at the finish. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 1st for the #73 and 119th for running at the finish.

For the past five years there have only been two chakats that have competed in the SCRL, Chakat Whitelion who is one of the most successful drivers in league history with 20 career wins and 5 championships while the other Chakat, Chakat Silverpaw hasn't been as successful but has found some success, scoring four career victories. In hir Whelen Euro Elite 2 debut, Silverpaw finished 9th at Monza and was looking to improve on that entering the second event at Brands Hatch.

The entry list for the second race of the season included one more driver that wasn't at the first race at Monza, the #46 Motorvision.tv Chevrolet of Derryl Immel, who was making his first start in several years in a SCRL sancationed race.

On race day, Silverpaw would roll off starting in the 11th spot while the #90 Braxx Performance of Mani Salado started in the final position. Salado lost ground with the pack within the first two laps and struggled to stay with the pack as they raced around the 11 Turn track, trailing for the first eight laps around that same time, Chakat Silverpaw had also lost touch with the field, allowing for Salado to pass Silverpaw with two laps to go and Silverpaw would trail for the final two laps, scoring the first last-place finish in his five year career.

The remaining Bottom Five finished on the same lap as the race leaders; 11th was the aforementioned #90 of Mani Salado, 10th was the #8 Italicus Ford of Leroy Jones, 9th was the #5 Orion Ford of Dale Jones and finishing 8th was the #7 Motorcraft Ford of David Dryburgh.
