Joseph Chapman picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL Lucas Oil ARCA Racing Series career in the Pre-Season 1 Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 at the Daytona International Speedway when his #68 Kimmel Racing Ford was involved in a multi-car crash after 2 of the 20 laps.
The finish came in his first start. Much to popular demand, the legendary ARCA Series was requested by many fans for this league owner to run and to comply with them I was able to start up a series using the 2012 ARCA Carset and signed up twenty three drivers to participate in the first ever event, but one driver chose to sit out of the series debut race at Daytona and make his series debut in the third event at Mobile, that being the #99 Roulo Brothers Racing Ford of Rick Rome.
On race day, Chapman would roll off starting in the 10th spot while the #00 Thunder 2 Chevrolet of Chakat Whitelion would start in the last spot took the green flag and shi would trail the field for the first lap while on the next lap the #17 Roulo Brothers Racing Ford of Jimmy Green would trail on Lap Two as the field made their way into Turn 1, chaos broke out as the #11 Syngenta Ford of nascardenny11 was turned by the #5 Lucas Oil Slick Mist Chevrolet of Draco Drakul into the #44 Ansell / Menards Toyota of Oreius Centaur as a ten car pileup broke out as the first ever "Big One" happened on Lap 2. Chapman, unable to see through all the smoke, ran right into the passenger door of Draco, sending the car over for three flips before landing on all four wheels. Chapman and Draco would both limp their cars to the garage, but Chapman was scored last, giving him the honor of the first driver to trail in SCRL ARCA event.
20th went to the #8 UNOH / Dodge Motorsports Dodge of Seth Brooks, who was leading under caution when on the sixth lap his car broke a header and he was done for the day. The remaining Bottom Five was in 19th the #16 Strutmasters.com Chevrolet of guitarhero01234 and 18th the #02 Southwest Florida Cable Construction Ford of Truttle, who finished two and one circuit behind race winner Nitahbk.
Joseph Chapman is a small footnote in the SCRL history as his career was both brief and uneventful as he never was able to visit victory lane under the SCRL sanction and has appeared to have fallen off the racing world in terms of the SCRL.
