CUP: Chris Tuckett picks up first career last-place finish in caution free race at Charlotte

Chris Tuckett picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL Grand National Series career in Saturday's Race 2 at the Charlotte Speedway when his #8 Fry Motors Lincoln completed all 15 laps under power.

The finish came in his 2nd career series start. In the SCRL Grand National Series, it's the 2nd for car #8 and the 15th for running at the finish. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 23rd for the #8 and 336th for running at the finish.

Tuckett was one of many drivers making their league and series debut in the third ever season of the SCRL's biggest series and has a lot of pressure on his shoulders to perform well. Tuckett made his debut at the Beach and Road Course, finishing a respectable 13th after starting last on the field and scored 12 points.

The entry list for the series fourth ever trip to the dirt track in Charlotte would be a field of only 22 drivers as only the full-time drivers would be able to complete.

In qualifying, Christian Russel would score his second career series pole with a time of 27.200 seconds. Tuckett would impress around the half mile track, posting a time of 28.905, while 1.705 seconds off Russel's time, placing Tuckett 3rd on the grid. Starting last in the race was the #22 Oldsmobile of Chris Kyle, as nine drivers would not post a time during qualifying, with Kyle being placed in the final spot as he was last in line to go out.

On race day, Kyle's stay in the final spot would only last two circuits before he would knock the #88 Rocket Oldsmobile of Amber Reid into last as she would trail for the first lap before she would knock the #60 Mercury of Josh Baker into last on Lap 2. Barker's stay in last would also only last one lap as he knocked the #59 Buesink Police Special Ford of Cole O’Ash falling back to last on Lap 3. Cole would trail for two laps before knocking Tuckett back to last on Lap 5, and as much as Tuckett tried to gain a position over the final laps, he was unable to gain any, as he finished a full 13 seconds behind the race leaders when the checkered flag waved.

The remaining Bottom Five were: 21st was the aforementioned #59 of Cole O'Ash, 20th was the #78 of Addy Jade, 19th was the #60 of Josh Barker and 18th was the #89 Plymouth of Brent James.
