Josh Barker picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL Grand National Series career in Sunday's Race 3 at the Lakeview Speedway when his #60 Ford completed all 15 laps under power.
The finish came in his 2nd career series start. In the SCRL Grand National Series, it's the 2nd for car #60 and the 16th for running at the finish. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 3rd for the #60 and 337th for running at the finish.
Entering the third ever season of the SCRL's highest series, Barker had found success in other series, having scored four career wins, but had yet to compete in the Grand National Series. Barker would sign on to compete on a full-time schedule with hopes of winning his first ever championship, as he would make made his debut at the Beach and Road Course, finishing 5th before having to sit out in the last round at Charlotte.
The entry list for the second time this season would be filled with both full and part-time drivers at the half mile track.
In qualifying, Sebastian Torres would score his second career series pole with a time of 21.216 seconds. Barker would struggle around the half mile track, posting a time of 21.582, while only 0.366 seconds off Sebastian's time, it would place Barker 32nd on the grid. Starting last in the race was the #2 Bronson Minnick, who posted a time of 21.750 seconds, 0.534 seconds off Sebastian's pole winning time.
On race day, Bronson would struggle around the half mile track as he would keep a hold of the last place spot, by the end of the first lap he was 8.712 seconds behind, 9.511 the next lap and it would remain in the nine and a half second gap for the next four laps before he knocked Barker down into the final spot for the first time on Lap 7. Barker's stay in last would only last two laps as he knocked the #10 of Chase Chryst into last on Lap 9, but Chryst was determined to not finish last as his stay in last place was also only two laps, with Barker taking the final spot again on Lap 11.
Barker's stay in the final spot was brief once again, this time only one lap as he knocked the #120 Ford of Brian Grigsby into last on Lap 12, a position that Grigsby would hold for two laps until he knocked Barker back to last for a third time on Lap 14, just before the white flag, and despite Barker trying his hardest over the last half mile, Barker was unable to gain a position by the time the checkered flag waved.
The remaining Bottom Five were: 41st was the aforementioned #2 of Bronson Minnick, 40th was the #120 of Brian Grigsby, 39th was the #10 of Chase Chryst and 38th was the #83 of James Blaiser.
