CUP: Rookie Amber Reid trails for the first time in her SCRL career at Arizona Fairgrounds

Amber Reid picked up the 1st last place finish of her SCRL Grand National Series career in Wednesday's Race 6 at the Arizona State Fairgrounds when her #88 Rocket Oldsmobile completed all 15 laps under power.

The finish came in her 6th career series start. In the SCRL Grand National Series, it's the 1st for car #88 and the 19th for running at the finish. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 17th for the #88 and 340th for running at the finish.

Entering the third ever season of the SCRL's highest series, Amber was one of many drivers making their league and series debut and has a lot of pressure on her shoulders to perform well. Amber would finish a decent 21st in her debut at Beach & Road Course, 11th at Charlotte, 18th at Lakeview, 16th at Carrell before scoring a career best 5th in the last round at Occoneechee.

The entry list for the third time this season would be filled with only the full-time drivers, as the part time drivers aren't scheduled to be back until the next round at North Wilkesboro.

In qualifying, Brent James would score his first career series pole with a time of 23.293 seconds. Amber would post a time of 23.594, 0.301 seconds off Brent's time, placing her 16th on the grid. Securing the 22nd and final starting spot was points leader the #81 Jamison Automotive Oldsmobile of Sergeant Young, who was the only driver who didn't post a lap in qualifying.

On race day, Young wouldn't be in last for long as he knocked the #2 Bronson Minnick into last in Turn 1 and by the end of Lap 1 he was already 5.354 seconds back of the leader and would fall to more than 7.145 seconds behind on Lap 4. Minnick would finally have something go his way as he knocked the #78 of Addy Jade into on last on Lap 5 remaining in last for two laps before knocking the Amber to last on Lap 7, as Amber would trail for two laps as well before knocking the #4 Coast Grain Hudson of Austin Line on Lap 9. Austin would trail for the next two laps before knocking Amber back to last once again on Lap 12 and over the final three laps Amber would lose touch with the drivers in front of her, falling to 13.935 seconds behind the race leader when the checkered flag waved.

The remaining Bottom Five were: 21st was the aforementioned #4 of Austin Line, 20th was the #2 of Bronson Minnick, 19th was the #78 of Addy Jade and 18th was #100 of Jeff Stott.
