Whelen: Eddie Wycombe's bad luck at Martinsville continues with second straight mechanical problem

Eddie Wycombe picked up the 2nd last place finish of his SCRL Icebreakers Whelen Series career in the September 21st's Azalea 150 at the Martinsville Speedway when his #42 Patterson Farm / NAPA / Spafco Chevrolet fell out with engine problems after completing 38 of the 50 laps.

In the SCRL Icebreakers Whelen Series, it's the 2nd for car #42 and the 1st for reason by engine. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 4th for the #42 and 32nd for reason by engine.

On race day, Wycombe would roll off starting in the 6th spot while the #48 A-Best Forklift Chevrolet of Bafode Sacko would roll off last and would trail the field till Lap 4 when he knocked the #88 Buzz Chez Chevrolet / GT Vodka of Dexter Black back to the final spot as Black lost touch with the field until Lap 16 when Black knocked the #1 DMC Auto Exchange Chevrolet of Anthony Lopez to the final spot for Lap 17 before Black was knocked back to last the very next lap on Lap 17. Black would once again lose ground with the field yet again, falling almost two seconds behind by Lap 37. By Lap 37, Wycombe had fallen back to 12th and was entering Turn 2 when his engine exploded as smoke came out from behind the car as Wycome slowed entering the backstretch, spilling out in the oil as his car was hit by the #43 Supreme Mfg.
