The finish came in his 2nd career series start. Nixey had made his debut at the series's first race in the previous race at Phoenix as Nixey started 17th but by the time the Checkered Flag flew, Nixey had worked his way up and finished 5th spot as the series stayed in the state of Arizona but this time went to the short track in Tucson for the first ever night race in series history.
On race day, Nixey would roll off the field in 17th while starting last was for the second race in a row the #52 AC Delco Chevrolet of Cesar Chavez, a spot he would hold for most of the race, even through the first caution which came out on Lap 8. When the green flag came back out, Chavez still trailed the field but as the field raced around the track, Nixey pulled into the pits, having been given the black flag as it was later shown he had jumped the restart, his day over. Oddly enough, seconds later the #32 Straight Arrow / Mane 'n Tail Ford of Sebastian Torres also pulled into the pits, himself disqualified by the officials as well for passing to the left before the start/finish line.
The remaining Bottom Five were filled by drivers who finished on the same lap as the race leaders; 38th went to the #31 Performance Race Cars USA Chevrolet of Truttle, 37th went to the #2 Ultra Custom Wheels / ASE Ford of Josh Barker and finishing 36th was the #30 Taylor Togs Dodge of Cole Nixey.
Josh's career in the SCRL would provide some success as he would pick up 3 career wins, which ties him with his brother Cam Nixey. The Nixey family as a whole hasn't competed in a SCRL series for awhile now, and the status of them is unknown.
