TRUCKS: Early wreck at Texas knocks out championship contender Chakat Whitelion

Chakat Whitelion picked up the 3rd last place finish of hir SCRL Rainbow Dash Truck Series career in the O'Reilly 300 at the Texas Motor Speedway when hir #99 Exide Batteries Ford was eliminated in a multi-truck accident after 4 of 17 laps.

The finish, which came in hir 97th career series start, was hir first on the circuit since the Season 4 Stevens Beil / Genuine Car Parts 200 at the Flemington Speedway when hir #5 Llumar Window Films Chevrolet completed 15 of the 20 laps under power; 40 races ago. In the Truck Series's last-place rankings, it was the 39th from a crash and 5th for the #99. Across SCRL's top three series, it was the 82nd from a crash and the 6th for #99.

Whitelion, who first completed in Season 1, has been one of the most successful drivers in the series history. In hir first ever season shi would go winless, but would finish 9th in points. In qualifying, Max Anderson would score his first career series pole, posting a time of 28.915 seconds. While battling for 6th, the #24 GMAC Financial Services Chevrolet of Alexander Rowe would come down the track in Turn 4 just as the #68 Hot Wheels Dodge of Nick Holiday was coming up the track as the two trucks would make contact, causing a multi-truck crash on the Frontstretch. Whitelion, who at this point had fallen back to ninth at the time of the wreck, would first hit two-time last-place finisher the #21 HS Die & Engineering / Softech Ford of Zachary DiLello before being hit in the driver's door by Watkins Glen last-place finisher the #83 Gwaltney / FW Siebert Construction Ford of Max Anderson with enough force that Anderson's truck nearly flipped over. Whitelion's truck would come to rest in the infield as the only truck that didn't drive away from the scene of the wreck. Whitelion would climb out of hir truck on hir own power and hir truck would be towed to the garage, not being listed as "out" until the 8th lap.

The entry list for the ninth time this season would be bumped up to 37 as Team 23 Racing made their sixth appearance of the season, the last being at Richmond. In qualifying, Michael Hoaks would score his first career series pole, posting a time of 31.950 seconds. Edison would truck struggle in qualifying around the 1.500 mile track, posting a time of 32.172 seconds, 0.222 seconds behind Hoaks's time, placing him 33rd on the starting line up. Matthew Hubert picked up the 2nd last place finish of his SCRL Rainbow Dash Truck Series career in the Virginia Is For Lovers 200 at the Richmond International Raceway when his #45 10-10-345 Ford completed all 20 laps under power.

The finish, which came in his 21st career series start, was his first on the circuit since the NAPA Autocare 200 at the Nazareth Speedway when he completed 17 of the 20 laps under power; 6 races ago. In the Truck Series's last-place rankings, it was the 38th for running at the finish and 2nd for the #45. TRUCKS: Zachary DiLello trails in second straight race at Gateway

Zachary DiLello picked up the 2nd last place finish of his SCRL Rainbow Dash Truck Series career in the Ram Tough 200 at the Gateway International Raceway when his #21 HS Die & Engineering Ford completed all 16 laps under power.

The finish, which came in his 19th career series start, was his first on the circuit since the Power Stroke 200 by Ford at the Indianapolis Raceway Park when his #21 HS Die & Engineering Ford completed all 20 laps under power; 1 race ago. In the Truck Series's last-place rankings, it was the 36th for running at the finish and 2nd for the #21. Across SCRL's top three series, it was the 126th for running at the finish and the 4th for #21.

After a disappointing finish at IRP, DiLello and his Steele Racing team was looking forward to rebounding by having a good running in the Truck Series second ever appearance at the 1.250 mile speedway as both driver and team would be making their first ever attempt at the track. With DiLello placed 13th in points and 3rd in the Rookie of the Year, DiLello's season needed to be turned around if he was going to be a contender in both.

DiLello however at this time was struggling for grip on the track and would be passed by Ebrahimian in Turn 2 on the final lap and would be unable to regain the position back over the final two turns and would cross the start/finish line in last place for the second straight race.

Zachary DiLello picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL Rainbow Dash Truck Series career in the Power Stroke 200 by Ford at the Indianapolis Raceway Park when his #21 HS Die & Engineering Ford completed all 20 laps under power.

The finish came in his 18th career series start. In the Truck Series's last-place rankings, it was the 35th for running at the finish and 1st for the #21. Across SCRL's top three series, it was the 125th for running at the finish and the 3rd for #21.

DiLello was one of seventeen drivers that were making their Rainbow Dash Truck Series debuts, as well as one of a record nineteen drivers competing for Rookie of the Year, choosing to sign to drive for Steele Racing, who were also making their debut season in the Truck Series. DiLello would be impressive in his debut by finishing 13th at Homestead, finishing 35th at Phoenix, 14th at Evergreen before scoring his first ever Top 10 by finishing 7th at Mesa Marin. Nick Holiday picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL Rainbow Dash Truck Series career in the Pennzoil / VIP Auto Discount Auto Center 200 at the New Hampshire International Speedway when his #68 Hot Wheels Dodge completed 17 of the 20 laps under power.

The finish came in his 68th career series start. In the Truck Series's last-place rankings, it was the 34th for running at the finish and 1st for the #68. Across SCRL's top three series, it was the 124th for running at the finish and the 1st for #68.

Holiday, who made his first appearance in the Truck Series back in Season 2, has built up a decent career, having scored 1 win in the Truck Series, coming at Memphis in Season 4, 5 Top 5s, 11 Top 10s and 49 laps led, with a best finish of 22nd in points in Season 4. Holiday would choose to sign with Impact Motorsports for his third ever season and it would start off with a 7th at Homestead, 22nd at Phoenix before finishing 26th at Evergreen, in what was the series's 100th race. Riley Spurlytube picked up the 5th last place finish of his SCRL Rainbow Dash Truck Series career in the goracing.com 200 at the Michigan Speedway when his #8 GM Goodwrench Service Chevrolet fell out with engine problems without completing any of the 10 laps.

The finish, which came in his 106th career series start, was his first on the circuit since the Season 4 Lund Look 275K at Heartland Park Topeka when his #22 Red Dog Ford completed 8 of the 9 laps under power; 25 races ago. In the Truck Series's last-place rankings, it was the 18th for engine issues and 4th for the #8. Across SCRL's top three series, it was the 24th for engine issues and the 7th for #8.

Entering his fifth ever season in the Truck Series, Spurlytube has built up a great career, having scored 2 wins in the Truck Series, while 19 overall in the SCRL, which ranks him 5th all time as well as having one championship in his career, in the SCRL CART Series. TRUCKS: Flat tire at Nazareth gives rookie Matthew Hubert first career last-place finish

Matthew Hubert picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL Rainbow Dash Truck Series career in the NAPA Autocare 200 at the Nazareth Speedway when his #45 Acxiom Ford completed 17 of the 20 laps under power.

The finish came in his 15th career series start. In the Truck Series's last-place rankings, it was the 33rd for running at the finish and 1st for the #45. Across SCRL's top three series, it was the 123rd for running at the finish and the 4th for #45.

Hubert was one of seventeen drivers that were making their Rainbow Dash Truck Series debuts, as well as one of a record nineteen drivers competing for Rookie of the Year, choosing to sign to drive for Morgan-Dollar Motorsports as a teammate to Sebastian Torres. Hubert's first race would show the talent the driver had, starting 11th, he would climb up the running order and would finish 9th in his debut. Another 9th at Phoenix in the following round would be followed by his worse finish of the season, a 10th, at Evergreen before scoring his first career win by beating his teammate at Mesa Marin. Four races in with four Top 5's and a win it looked like it was going to be a history making season for Hubert, but after scoring his first win, he would struggle to maintain the momentum with finishes of 21st at Martinsville, 14th at Memphis, 12th at Pikes Peak, and 17th at I-70 before scoring his first Top ten since his win at Mesa Marin by finishing 3rd at Bristol. A 21st at Texas, 25th at Portland and a 28th at Watkins Glen would be followed by a 7th at the Milwaukee Mile before finishing 8th in the last round at Nashville.

Brown would trail for two laps himself before knocking Juniper back to last on Lap 9, before Lagasee assumed the final spot once again on Lap 10 and appeared he was going to trail for the remainder of the race until on Lap 16, Hubert, who had lost nine positions since the race began, slowed in Turn 1 as the other drivers passed, limping back to pit road he would lose two laps and then a third on pit road before being sent back out on the track. With no cautions coming out, Hubert would be the only driver to not finish on the same lap as the race leaders.

The finish, which came in his 41st career series start, was his first on the circuit since the Season 4 NAPA 250 at the Martinsville Speedway when his #6 RE/MAX International Chevrolet fell out with engine issues without completing any of the 25 laps; 18 races ago. In the Truck Series's last-place rankings, it was the 17th for engine issues and 4th for the #2. Across SCRL's top three series, it was the 23rd for engine issues and the 5th for #2.

Ebrahimian has only one season under his belt competing in the Rainbow Dash Truck Series, making his debut for Chesrown Racing in Season 4 and having a successful season, scoring 9 Top 10s, 6 Top 5 finishes, including his first career series win at Richmond in his 20th career series start and finishing 3rd in points. In qualifying, Chakat Duskwatcher would score hir first career series pole, posting a time of 21.261 seconds. Ebrahimian's truck would struggle to get through inspection during qualifying and thus wouldn't post a time in qualifying, securing him the 37th and final spot on the grid.

On race day, the battle for last ended just seconds after the command to start the engines as the drivers completed their lone pace lap, Dilan Ebrahimian would pull to the inside of the track and onto pit road at the same time as the #34 Sprint Prepaid Phonecard Dodge of Brian Fox, who was scheduled to start 15th. TRUCKS: Hilda Pierson receives damage at Portland that leads to her second last-place finish in just her 11th start

Hilda Pierson picked up the 2nd last place finish of her SCRL Rainbow Dash Truck Series career in the Grainger Industrial Supply 225K at the Portland International Raceway when her #04 Chelsea Dodge completed all 8 laps under power.

The finish, which came in her 11th career series start, was her first on the circuit since the Florida Dodge Dealers 400K at the Miami-Dade Homestead Motorsports Complex when she was eliminated in a multi-truck accident after 2 of 19 laps; 10 races ago. In the Truck Series's last-place rankings, it was the 31st for running at the finish and 3rd for the #04. Across SCRL's top three series, it was the 121st for running at the finish and the 5th for #04.

After trailing at Homestead, Pierson would rebound with a strong 15th at Phoenix before it would be back to the bottom of the field by finishing 33rd at Evergreen, rebounding with a 14th at Mesa Marin, a 16th at Martinsville, 35th at Memphis, 31st at Pikes Peak before scoring a career best 8th at I-70. Finishes of 9th at Bristol and a 28th in the last round at Texas had placed Pierson 29th in points as the series headed to the first road course event of the season.

The entry list for the eighth time this season would be the usual 36 as Jamie Timber's team have no plans to make any more starts until the fourteenth race of the season at Nashville Speedway, and due to the size of the track, no driver would fail to qualify at Portland. In qualifying, Mitchell Hodack would score his first career series and league pole, posting a time of 80.745 seconds. Pierson would struggle in qualifying around the twisting 1.967 mile road course, posting a time of 82.730 seconds, 1.985 seconds behind Hodack's time, placing her 34th on the starting lineup. The #2 Team ASE Racing Ford of Dilan Ebrahimian would be the last to get in on speed, posting a time of 82.886 seconds, who was 2.141 seconds behind Hodack's lap time.

On race day, Dilan Ebrahimian would trail the first lap before he would knock the #15 Ortho Ford of Sébastien Palmer into the final spot on Lap 2. As the field entered Turn 1, Pierson, who had worked her way up to 31st position, would run into the back of the #14 Circle Bar Motel & RV Park Ford of Michael Brown, damaging the front end of her truck, while seconds later, Pierson would be slammed from behind by the #31 Auto Trim Design Ford of Kristian Bracken, giving her damage on the rear end of her truck as well. As the field came around to complete Lap 3, Pierson was forced to head to pit road for repairs, with her crew deciding to merely remove the hood of her vehicle before sending her back out onto the track hoping that a caution would come out so they could catch back up. However, due to the lack of attrition, no caution would fly, as Pierson would finish a full fifty-four seconds behind the leaders when the checkered flag waved.
