Colin Dryburgh picked up the 2nd last place finish of his SCRL Rainbow Dash Truck Series career in the O'Reilly Auto Parts 275 at the Heartland Park Topeka when his #55 Icehouse Beer Ford completed all 8 laps under power.
The finish, which came in his 57th career series start, was his first on the circuit since the NAPA 300K at the Pikes Peak International Raceway when he completed all 19 laps under power; 13 races ago. In the Truck Series's last-place rankings, it was the 37th for running at the finish and 3rd for the #55. Across SCRL's top three series, it was the 127th for running at the finish and the 3rd for #55.
After trailing the field for the first time ever at Pikes Peak, Dryburgh would continue to struggle in the next round by finishing 24th at I-70 before rebounding with a 16th at Bristol, a 10th at Texas, a 20th at Portland, a 21st at Watkins Glen, before finishing 5th at the Milwaukee Mile. Back-to-back finishes of 4th at Nashville and Nazareth would be followed by a disappointing 31st at the series first ever race at Michigan before rebounding with a 3rd at Loudon, a 5th at IRP before finishing 11th in the last round at Gateway and would enter Heartland Park 2nd in points.
The entry list for the seventh time this season would be bumped up to 37 as Blaise Zebrataur's Roush Racing team made their third and final appearance of the season. In qualifying, Mitchell Hodack would score his second career series pole, posting a time of 97.512 seconds. Dryburgh would truck struggle in qualifying around the 2.100 mile 18 turned track, posting a time of 100.340 seconds, 2.828 seconds behind Hodack's time, placing him 31st on the starting line up. Michigan last-place finisher the #8 GM Goodwrench Service Chevrolet would be the last to get in on speed, posting a time of 100.865 seconds, who was 3.353 seconds behind Hodack's lap time.
On race day, Spurlytube would not remain in last for long, as by Turn 5 he had knocked the #12 Team ASE / Ultra Wheels Ford of Reggie Fogleman into the last spot, with Fogleman trailing for the first lap. As the laps would count down, Fogleman would continue to struggle staying caught up with the pack, trailing for the first six laps and appeared on his way to his first ever last-place finish. However late in the race, Dryburgh, who had fallen back since the start, would be knocked back into the final spot just before the field took the white flag. Dryburgh would struggle over the final two miles, losing almost a second to Fogleman over the final lap and would be trailing the field when the checkered flag waved, more than forty seconds behind the race leaders.
The remaining Bottom Five were: 36th was the aforementioned #12 of Reggie Fogleman, 35th was current SCRLASTCAR Championship leader the #26 Mittler Brothers Machine & Tool Ford of Derrick Edison, 34th was the #31 Auto Trim Design Ford of Kristian Bracken and 33rd was the aforementioned #8 of Riley Spurlytube.
