Josh Harmon picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL Rainbow Dash Truck Series career in Sunday's Bully Hill Vineyards 150 at the DieHard 200 at the Milwaukee Mile when his #87 AER / Bully Hill Vineyards Chevrolet fell out with engine problems without completing any of the 20 laps.
The finish came in his 13th career series start. In the Truck Series last-place rankings, it was the 16th for engine issues and 2nd for the #87. Across SCRL's top three series, it was the 22nd for engine issues and the 4th for #87.
Harmon is a rookie when it comes to competing in the SCRL, with the fifth season of the SCRL Rainbow Dash Truck Series being the first ever season he ever signed up for, choosing to sign with NEMCO Motorsports with hopes of the Rookie of the Year award, a few Top 10's, Top 5's and possibly a win once him and his team had worked out any early problems. Harmon's first ever start would be in the season opener at Homestead, qualifying 18th before scoring a shocking runner up finish to Reggie Fogleman. A disappointing 32nd at Phoenix and a 27th in the series's 100th race at Evergreen would be followed with a 6th at Mesa Marin, a career worst 36th at Martinsville, 16th at Memphis, 35th at Pikes Peak, 18th at I-70 and a 28th at Bristol before scoring his second career runner up finish at Texas. Harmon would then bounce back with back-to-back Top 5 finishes on the road course; a 4th at Portland and a 3rd in the last round at Watkins Glen.
The entry list for the eighth time this season would be bumped back down to 36 as Portland and Watkins Glen winner Blaise Zebrataur's #50 Grainger Ford was not on the entry list, with the driver not choosing to complete again until Heartland Park Topeka. In qualifying, Zachary Fitzwater would score his second pole of the season, posting a time of 31.185 seconds. Harmon would struggle in qualifying around the one mile track, posting a time of 31.473 seconds, 0.288 seconds seconds behind Harmon's time, placing him 22nd on the starting line up. The #15 Ortho Ford of Sébastien Palmer would be the last to get in on speed, posting a time of 31.784 seconds, who was 0.599 seconds behind Fitzwater's lap time.
On race day, the battle for last ended just seconds after the command to start the engines as Harmon's truck would stall on pit road, being forced to be pushed into his pit stall by his crew. As the green flag waved, Harmon's crew searched under the hood to see what the problem was and if it'd be possible to send their driver out onto the track, however as the field completed two laps, Harmon's team had given up the fight, a terminal engine failure had caused the rookie to be score having not completed a lap and listed as "Out" by Lap 5.
The remaining Bottom Five were; 35th was the #7 Big Jon Marine / Hollandia Sunroofs Chevrolet of Tyler Kepman, 34th was the aforementioned #15 of Sébastien Palmer, 33rd was two-time last-place finisher the #38 Menards Chevrolet of Ashton Tifft and 32nd was the #31 Auto Trim Design / Best Buy Ford of Kristian Bracken.
