CUP: Chakat Duskwatcher trails in first ever race at Altamont-Schenectady



Chakat Duskwatcher picked up the 1st last place finish of hir SCRL Grand National Series career in the December 5th Race 19 at the Altamont-Schenectady Fairgrounds when hir #69 completed all 20 laps under power.

The finish came in hir 19th career series start. In the SCRL Grand National Series, it's the 1st for car #69 and the 31st for running at the finish. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 4th for the #69 and 352nd for running at the finish.

Coming into Season 3 of the SCRL's highest division, Duskwatcher has been competing in several series in the SCRL since making hir debut back in 2020 in the ARCA Truck Series, making starts in SCRL Formula 2 Series, the SCRL Busch Grand National Series and the SCRL CART Series, but had yet to visit victory lane as shi signed up to compete full time to compete in hir first season in the Grand National Series. Duskwatcher would make hir debut at Beach & Road Course, starting 29th and finishing a disappointing 32nd, followed by a 6th at Charlotte, 4th at Lakeview before scoring hir first career win in just hir 4th career start in the Grand National Series at Carrell.  A 19th at Hillsborough would be followed by a 6th at Arizona State, 37th at North Wilkesboro, 18th at Martinsville, 11th at Canfield, 10th at Columbus, 5th at Columbia and a 6th at Dayton, before scoring hir second straight win at Carrell before winning in the very next round at Grand Rapids, to become the first driver in series history to win back-to-back races.

A disappointing 6th at Bainbridge would prevent hir from tying for the most wins in a row as shi would struggle in the next round at Heidelberg by finishing 28th, 3rd at Asheville-Weaverville before finishing 10th in the last round at Monroe County.

The entry list for the 14th time this season would be filled with only the full-time drivers, with the part-time drivers not scheduled to be back on the track until the next race at the Michigan State Fairgrounds.

In qualifying, Cole O'Ash would score his first pole of his career with a time of 20.993 seconds. Duskwatcher perform great in qualifying, posting a time of 21.076, 0.083 seconds off O'Ash's time, placing hir 6th on the grid. Securing the 22nd and final starting spot was Charlotte last-place finisher the #8 Fry Motors Lincoln of Chris Tuckett, who posted a time of 21.252, 0.259 seconds off O'Ash's time.

When the race started, Tuckett would struggle around the half mile dirt track, trailing for the first lap before knocking the #4 of Austin Line into last on Lap 2. Line would trail for only one lap before knocking Columbia last-place finisher the #78 Lincoln of Addy Jade into last on Lap 3, but Jade's stay in the final spot would last just one lap before she knocked two-time last-place finisher the #81 Oldsmobile of Sergeant Young into last on Lap 4. Young would struggle around the bumpy track for the next two laps before knocking fellow two time last-place finisher the #120 Hudson of Brian Grigsby into last on Lap 7. Grigsby was determined to not trail for a third time and would knock Young back to last after two laps, with Young trailing another two laps once again before knocking the two-time last-place finisher the #60 Ford of Josh Barker to last on Lap 12. Barker would trail for the next four laps before knocking Monroe County last-place finisher the #89 Plymouth of Brent James into last on Lap 17.

James would trail for just one lap before knocking the #44 of Boston Auston into last on Lap 18, as he would trail as the field took the white flag, but entering Turn 1 he would knock Duskwatcher, who had stuggled all race long, back to last, and Duskwatcher running out of time and would finish last for the first time in hir career.

The remaining Bottom Five were: 21st was the aforementioned #44 of Boston Auston, 20th was the #120 of Brian Grigsby, 19th was the #89 of Brent James and 18th was the #60 of Josh Barker.

CUP: Brent James trails for the first time in his short SCRL career at Monroe County



Brent James picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL Grand National Series career in Sunday's Race 18 at the Monroe County Fairgrounds when his #89 Plymouth completed all 20 laps under power.

The finish came in his 18th career series start. In the SCRL Grand National Series, it's the 1st for car #89 and the 30th for running at the finish. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 3rd for the #89 and 351st for running at the finish.

Coming into Season 3 of the SCRL's highest division, James is a rookie in the SCRL, having never competed in a series before signing up to complete on a full time schedule. James's SCRL career started with an impressive 10th at Beach & Road Course, 18th at Charlotte, 37th at Lakeview before scoring a career best 2nd at Carrell. A 14th at Hillsborough, before scoring another runner up finish at Arizona State, 23rd at North Wilkesboro, 4th at Martinsville, 17th at Canfield, 15th at Columbus, 14th at Columbia, 9th at Dayton, 10th at the second Carrel event, 3rd at Grand Rapids, 17th at Bainbridge, 29th at Heidelberg before finishing 11th in the last round at Asheville-Weaverville.

The entry list for the 13th time this season would be filled with only the full-time drivers.

In qualifying, Ty Westner would score his first pole of his career with a time of 24.291 seconds. James would struggle in qualifying, posting a time of 24.660, 0.369 seconds off Westner's time, placing him 17th on the grid. Securing the 22nd and final starting spot was the #69 of Chakat Duskwatcher, who posted a time of 24.838, 0.547 seconds off Westner's time.

When the race started, Duskwatcher would trail for the first two turns before knocking two-time last-place finisher the #120 Hudson of Brian Grigsby into last, with Grigsby trailing for the first three laps before knocking the #59 Buesink Police Special Ford of Cole O’Ash into last on Lap 4. Despite a caution coming out on Lap 6, O'Ash would remain in last place, even when the green flag came back out, O'Ash would struggle to make any moves before finally knocking Canfield last-place finisher the #50 Mercury of Christian Russel into last on Lap 17. Russel's stay in last was brief as he would knock Columbus last-place finisher the #51 Cherokee Garage Oldsmobile of Austin Abilene into last on Lap 18. Abilene would trail for the next two laps before on the final lap, he would pass Brent James on the backstretch and would beat James to the line, giving James the final position on the last lap.

The remaining Bottom Five were: 21st was the #59 of Cole O'Ash, 20th was the #51 of Austin Abilene, 19th was Asheville-Weaverville last-place finisher the #58 Kaiser of Brent Davison and 18th was the #50 of Christian Russel.

CUP: Brent Davison trails for series leading third time in first race at Asheville-Weaverville



Brent Davison picked up the 3rd last place finish of his SCRL Grand National Series career in Saturday's Race 17 at the Asheville-Weaverville Speedway when his #58 Kaiser completed all 20 laps under power.

The finish, which came in his 36th career series start, was his first on the circuit since the Season 2 Southern 500 at the Darlington Raceway when his #97 Mercury was involved in a single-car crash without completing any of the 40 laps; 23 races ago. In the SCRL Grand National Series, it's the 1st for car #58 and the 29th for running at the finish. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 7th for the #58 and 350th for running at the finish.

Davison was in his second ever full time season competing in the SCRL's highest division in it's NASCAR sanctioned series. Davison had competed in all 19 races, and while he wouldn't visit victory lane, he would score three Top 5 finishes, with a season best of 2nd in his second career start at Charlotte, and would go on to finish 25th in the final point standings. Davison would come back looking for redemption, driving for a brand new team and make, Davison would struggle at the site of his debut one season earlier where he had finished 4th, while this year he's struggle and finished 24th. A 12th at Charlotte would be followed by his second career runner up finish at Lakeview, and a 11th at Carrell, 37th at Hillsborough before scoring his first career win in just his 25th career start by winning at Arizona State Fairgrounds. A 9th at North Wilkesboro was followed by a disappointing 13th at Martinsville, before scoring win number two at Canfield, a 4th at Columbus, 6th at Columbia, 11th at Dayton, 16th at the second Carrel event, 12th at Grand Rapids, before scoring his third win of the season at Bainbridge before finishing 30th in the last round at Heidelberg.

The entry list for the twelfth time this season would be filled with only the full-time drivers.

In qualifying, Christian Russel would score his fifth pole of his career with a time of 21.103 seconds. Securing the 22nd and final starting spot was Davison, who struggled around the half mile track, posting a time of 21.528, 0.425 seconds off Russel's time.

When the race started, Davison would trail for the first lap before knocking the #100 of Jeff Stott back to last on Lap 2, a position that Stott would hold for the next two circuits before knocking the #82 of Breezy Brisbane into last on Lap 5. Brisbane's stay in the final spot would last only one lap as she knocked Arizona last-place finisher the #88 Rocket Oldsmobile of Amber Reid into last on Lap 6. Reid would struggle around the half mile dirt track, trailing for the next five laps before knocking Brisbane back to last for a second time on Lap 12. Brisbane this time would trail for two laps before knocking Charlotte last-place finisher the #8 Fry Motors Lincoln of Chris Tuckett into last on Lap 15. Tuckett would trail for three laps before knocking Davison back to last on Lap 18, and as much as Davison tried to gain a position over the final laps, he was unable to do so by the time the checkered flag waved.

The remaining Bottom Five were: 21st was the #2 Bronson Minnick, 20th was North Wilkesboro last-place finisher the #92 Plymouth of Andrew James, 19th was the aforementioned #8 of Chris Tuckett and 18th was the #82 of Breezy Brisbane.

CUP: Off camera spin leads to Chase Chryst scoring his first career last-place finish at Heidelberg



Chase Chryst picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL Grand National Series career in Thursday's Race 16 at the Heidelberg Raceway when his #10 Mercury completed all 20 laps under power.

The finish came in his 5th career series start. In the SCRL Grand National Series, it's the 1st for car #10 and the 28th for running at the finish. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 22nd for the #10 and 349th for running at the finish.

Chryst is still a rookie when it comes to the SCRL, having only competed in the SCRL's second ever Snowball Derby, posting a time of 34th in qualifying and forced to race in the Snowflake 100, finishing 24th in the race and failing to transfer into the main event. Nearly a year later, Chryst would finally make his return to the SCRL, signing up to compete for a part-time schedule, with plans to make a run for the championship in a later season. Chryst made his official SCRL debut by finishing a disappointing 29th at the Beach & Road Course, before being forced to skip the next round at Charlotte, he would return by finishing 39th at Lakeview. After skipping the next round at Carrell, Chryst would finish 25th at Hillsborough, and after skipping Arizona, he would finally score his first career Top 10, finishing 6th at North Wilkesboro. Chryst would then be forced to skip the next eight events at Martinsville, Canfield, Columbus, Columbia, Dayton, Carrell, Grand Rapids as well as the last round at Bainbridge.

The entry list for the five time this season would be filled with both the full-time drivers as well as the part-time drivers, the first time since North Wilkesboro, nine races ago.

In qualifying, Nick Holiday would score his second pole of his career with a time of 19.742 seconds. Chryst would struggle in qualifying, posting a time of 20.007, 0.265 seconds off Holiday's time, placing him 27th on the grid. Securing the 42nd and final starting spot was the #23 Studebaker of John Autzen, who posted a time of 20.241 seconds, 0.499 seconds off Holiday's pole winning time.

When the race started, Autzen would remain in the final spot for the first two turns before knocking the #100 of Jeff Stott back to last, with Stott trailing the field for the first lap, and would trail for the next three circuits, at which point Chryst had fallen back to 31st. While battling for 21st, the #21 R.L.L.R.B. Bowling Lincoln of Adriana Costa would be spun out in Turn 1 by the #69 of Chakat Duskwatcher, with Costa's car coming down the track right in front of Chryst's car. Despite no caution coming out, Chryst would struggle over the next ten laps to gain any position before slowly cutting down the margin, before finally knocking Adriana Costa back to last on Lap 15. Costa would trail for the next two laps before knocking the #43 Nash of Nathan Ormond back to last on Lap 17.

Ormond would trail for one lap before knocking the #17 Plymouth of Abby Russel back to last on Lap 18 but the next circuit Russel would knock Chryst back to last on the final lap, and Chryst would fail to fight back, finishing last when the checkered flag waved.

The remaining Bottom Five were: 41st was the aforementioned #17 of Abby Russel, 40th was the #21 of Adriana Costa, 39th was the #43 of Nathan Ormond and 38th was Carrell last-place finisher the #77 Smith-Klein Chevrolet Inc. Ford of McKenzie Dell.
