CUP: McKenzie Dell trails for the first time in her SCRL career in caution free race at Carrell

McKenzie Dell picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL Grand National Series career in last Monday's Stock Car Classic at the Carrell Speedway when her #77 Smith-Klein Chevrolet Inc. Ford completed all 20 laps under power.

The finish came in her 13th career series start. In the SCRL Grand National Series, it's the 1st for car #77 and the 25th for running at the finish. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 13th for the #77 and 346th for running at the finish.

McKenzie was one of many drivers who was making not only their series debut but league debut by signing up to compete on a full time schedule. McKenzie would fair decent in her debut, finishing 18th at Beach & Road Course, 17th at Charlotte, 15th at Lakeview before scoring her first Top 10 finish, a 7th, at the first Carrell event. McKenzie would struggle once again and scored her worst finish of the season by finishing 36th at Hillsborough. A 14th at Arizona would be followed by a 15th at North Wilkesboro, 21st at Martinsville, 14th at Canfield, 21st at Columbus, 9th at Columbia before scoring a career best 4th in the last round at Dayton.

The entry list for the ninth time this season would be filled with only the full-time drivers.

In qualifying, Chris Kyle would score the pole with a time of 20.359 seconds. McKenzie would post a time of 20.671, 0.312 seconds off Kyle's time, placing her 21st on the grid. Securing the 22nd and final starting spot was the #93 Plymouth of Roger James, who posted a time of 20.696 seconds, 0.337 seconds off Kyle's pole winning time.

When the race started, James remained in last for the first turn before knocking McKenzie into last, with McKenzie trailing for the first lap before knocking Roger back to last, with Roger trailing for the next two laps before knocking two last-place finisher the #120 Hudson of Brian Grigsby into last on Lap 4.

Grigsby would trail for one lap before knocking Dayton last-place finisher the #81 Oldsmobile of Sergeant Young into last on Lap 5. Young would struggle around the half mile track for the next six laps before knocking McKenzie back to last on Lap 12. Over the next eight laps, McKenzie would struggle trying to gain a spot around the bumpy track and would be more then eight seconds behind the leaders when the checkered flag waved.

The remaining Bottom Five would finish on the same lap as the race leaders: 21st was the aforementioned #81 of Sergeant Young, 20th was the #120 of Brian Grigsby, 19th was the #44 of Boston Auston and 18th was the #93 of Roger James.
