Roger James picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL Tim Hortons Candian Series career in Saturday's Jiffy Lube 100 Presented by Snap-On at Circuit ICAR when his #29 La Cite De Mirabel Inc. Dodge completed all 6 laps under power.
The finish came in his 4th career series start. In the SCRL Tim Hortons Candian Series, it's the 1st for car #29 and the 12th for running at the finish. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 4th for the #29 and the 325th for running at the finish.
James, still looking to make a name for himself in the SCRL, was one of many drivers making his Canadian Series debut, having signed on to compete in all twelve events of Season 3. James would finish a disappointing 30th at CTMP in his debut, 14th at Delaware before finishing a career best 4th at CTMP Oval.
The entry list for the second time this season would be a full 31 cars with only Blaise Zebrataur and Chakat Lightingblaze choosing to skip the event to focus on competing in later events in the season.
In qualifying, Brian Fox became the first driver to score two career poles, posting a time of 102.413 seconds. James would impress in qualifying around the 2.113 mile road course, posting a time of 102.674, 0.261 seconds off Fox's time, it would place James 11th on the grid, the second highest starting position all season. Starting last in the race was the #22 Canadian Tire Dodge of Owen Carvin, who posted the slowest time of 103.235, 0.822 seconds behind Fox's pole winning time.
When Saturday's race started, the #28 VIP Poker Chevrolet of Jonathan Dayne and James would both forfeit their original starting spots and pulled to the rear of the field on the pace lap due to unapproved adjustments.
When the green flag waved, James would make a move in Turn 1 and knocked Dayne back to the final position, a spot Dayne would remain in for the first lap and then the second. Dayne would then gain a run on James into Turn 1 and also passed Owen Carvin for 29th and then was making a move for 27th on the #84 Equipment Express Chevrolet of David Byers as Dayne would make contact with the inside wall before coming across the track and into the path of James, sending both cars for a spin. James's car would get severe right side damage as Dayne would get back into the gas before James as no caution would come out, with James trailing the field for the final four laps.
The remaining Bottom Five were: 29th was the aforementioned #22 of Owen Carvin, 28th was the #84 of David Byers and 27th was the #47 WeatherTech Canada / Bellemare of Cameron Hathaway.
