Throwback Formula E: Daniel Evans picks up the third and final last-place finish of career after crash at Suzuka

Daniel Evans picked up the 3rd last place finish of his SCRL Formula E Series career in the Season 1 Japan ePrix at the Suzuka Circuitland when his #44 Mercedes was involved in a multi-car crash without completing any of the 10 laps.

The finish, which came in his 9th start, was his first on the circuit since the Monte Carlo ePrix at the Circuit de Monaco when he fell out with engine issues after completing 1 of the 8 laps, 4 races ago

After trailing at Monaco, Evans and the Mercedes would work to end their season on a high note, finishing 11th at Long Beach, a season best 3rd at Hungaroring before being caught up in a wreck in the last round at Sebring and finished 18th.

On race day, Evans rolled off starting 15th while starting in the final spot for the second race in a row was Mexico City last-place finisher the #20 Renault Sport F1 Team of Gavyn Moore. The first three turns would be calm for the drivers but it quickly ended two turns later when cars began to slide of the track and slammed into the outside wall, with Evans and Barker nearly flipping over due to the impact. Evans and Barker would both climb from their cars uninjured, but their cars would be done for the day.

Rounding out the Bottom Five were drivers who also was involved in the same wreck but were able to limb across the start/finish line before pulling into the garage; 20th was Sebring last-place finisher the #7 Scuderia Ferrari of Grayson Acevedo, 19th was two-time last-place finisher the #3 Red Bull Racing of Eli Bright and 18th was the #77 Williams Martini Racing of Jonathan Raines.

This would be the third and final time in his career that Evans would trail the field, as one race later he also made the only trip to victory lane in the SCRL while finishing 3rd in his final race at CTMP and would go on to finish 7th in the final point standings. He hasn't competed in a SCRL race since
