TRUCKS: Chaos breaks out early for third race in a row as Carter Joey scored the first last-place finish of his truck series career; now 5th on the all time list

Carter Joey picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL Rainbow Dash Truck Series career in Thursday's Chevy Trucks NASCAR 150 at the Phoenix International Raceway when his #18 Dana Corporation Dodge was eliminated in a multi-truck accident after 3 of 32 laps.

The finish occurred in his 3rd career series start. In the Truck Series, it's the 2nd for truck #18 and the 29th from a crash. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 8th for the #18 and 262nd from a crash. By finishing last, Joey is now tied with Chris Kyle, Riley Spurlytube and Truttle for 5th on the all time last-place finishing list with 10 finishes in last-place.

Joey is one of many drivers still looking to make a name for themselves in the SCRL, with Joey having competed for several years now without scoring a championship, however he has scored three wins in his career with his most recent coming in the SCRL ARCA Late Model Series when he won at Flat Rock. Joey would sign up to drive for L&R Racing. Joey's truck career started off with a 11th at Walt Disney World before finishing 18th in the last round at Homestead.

The entry list for the season's third event would remain at a field of 37 trucks. Chakat Stripepaws, sister to Chakat Flaremane who had won the race at Homestead one day prior, would find success for hirself this time around in qualifying, taking hir first pole in just hir second start. Joey would struggle a little around the one mile track, posting a time only 0.174 seconds behind Stripepaws pole winning time. Starting last for the second race in a row was the #1 Team ASE Racing Ford of Michael Brown, this time able to complete a lap in qualifying without spinning out on his lap.

On race day, Brown would trail for the first two turns before knocking the #28 Federated Auto Parts Ford of Jack Lagasee into the final spot, a position he would hold for the first circuit before coming to the line to complete lap two the #5 Llumar Window Films Chevrolet of Chakat Whitelion would get together with the #75 Spears Manufacturing Chevrolet of Joshua Rush coming out of Turn 4, starting a chain reaction as the first caution would come out. Joey would try and miss but misjudged and ran into the back of Rush's truck, destroying the front end of Joey's truck and sending him into the inside wall. Joey would cross the start/finish line but it was the #99 Exide Batteries Ford of Darren Allen who would trail for Lap 2. Joey would coast around the track before pulling behind the wall, the damage wall to severe to continue and by Lap 5 Joey's truck was listed as "out" on the scoring board.

Finishing in the 36th spot was the #90 NHL Dodge of Muhammad Zain Abdullah, who originally was thought to have been involved in the crash, but replays showed he had barely avoided getting hit, but seconds later his truck's gearbox broke. Abdullah would lead Joey into the garage as the team looked over the transmission and gearbox, and the team thought about going back out on track, but with only one spot able to be gain, the team officially gave up and on Lap 13 the truck was listed as out.

Finishing in 35th would be the #77 Doran Racing Enterprises Chevrolet of Bob Jenkins, who would lead 13 of the event's first 16 laps, but just before the race went back under green, his engine blew up and with disappointment over the radio, Jenkins thanked his crew for giving him a fast truck to compete in. Jenkins would pull behind the wall and on the next lap his truck was officially listed as "out" with engine failure being the cause.

The remaining Bottom Five would finish on the same lap as the race leaders: 34th was the aforementioned #99 of Darren Allen and 33rd was the #75 of Joshua Rush.

Taking victory lane in a major upset was the owner and writer of LASTCAR Brock Beard, who would assume the lead shortly after Jenkins went out of the race and held off Christian Russell to score the first win of his SCRL career in just his 49th overall start.
