Throwback TRUCK: Late race spin prevents Richard Torres from advancing in LCQ at Evergreen

Richard Torres picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL Rainbow Dash Truck Series career in the Season 1 Jerr Dan / Nelson 150 at the Evergreen Speedway when his #83 Coffee Critic Chevrolet completed all 10 laps in the LCQ.

The finish came in his 6th career series start.

Torres was one of several rookies looking to make a name for himself in the SCRL's third highest divison by competing in the truck series. Decker's career started off with a 39th at Phoenix, 20th at Tucson, 28th at Saugus before finishing 18th at Mesa Marin before finishing 27th in the last round at Portland.

With the track only able to fit 34 trucks, the last three in points would be forced to battle it out for the last two spots for the second race in a row. On race day, Torres would roll off the field in 2nd place in the LCQ while starting last for the second time in a row was the #2 Ultra Custom Wheels / ASE  Ford of Josh Barker. Barker would remain in last for the first three turns before he made a move for the lead, while Torres would trail for the first lap, but the next time around it was Portland last-lace finisher the #28 NAPA / United Brake Systems Ford of Jack Decker who was in the final spot. Decker would remain in last up until Lap 6, when Torres went wide in Turn 2, smacking the wall and coming back down across the track at the same time Decker was passing, sending Torres for a complete spin, before Torres was able to go back through the gears and keep running. No caution would fly, and due to that, Torres was unable to catch back up, becoming the only driver who failed to advance.

Finishing 35th was the #1 Sears DieHard Chevrolet of Jeff Bright, who was taken out in a multi-truck crash in Turn 4 on the first circuit around the track, failing to complete a lap.

The remaining Bottom Five would also be involved in the same crash but were able to limp back around to be scored having completed a lap; 34th was the #10 Made For You / Circular Chevrolet of Riley Spurlytube, 33rd was the #6 Total Petroleum Chevrolet of Jonathan Raines and 32nd was the #08 Ultra Custom Wheels Ford of Evan Rudd.

Torres would never visit victory lane in the Truck Series but would pick up 5 career wins in other SCRL series, finishing a series best 4th at Walt Disney and I-70 in Season 3 and a best finish of 25th in points in Season 3.
