Throwback ARCA: Mid race wreck at Kentucky gives Cam Nixey the first last-place finish of his ARCA career

Cam Nixey picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL Lucas Oil ARCA Racing Series career in the Season 1 Kentucky 150 at the Kentucky Speedway when his #22 Ebay Motors / St. Jude Children's Hospital Dodge was involved in a two-car crash after 14 of the 27 laps.

The finish came in his 6th career start.

Cam was just starting to make a name for himself in the SCRL and signing up for the ARCA Series was a place for Cam to build up his experience against some of the best SCRL drivers and up coming rookies. Cam would finish 32nd in his debut at Daytona, 26th at Atlanta, 10th at Charlotte, 18th at Talladega before finishing 18th in the last round at Gateway.

On race day, Cam would roll off 35th while starting last was the #2 ModSpace / Hixson-Belmont Ford of Jonathan Raines as the first thirteen laps around the mile and a half track was very action packed with drivers going three and four wide at times with drivers giving each other space, but that would come to an end on Lap 14 when Cam, who had moved up to 11th was hit from behind by the #92 unsponsored NTS Motorsports Chevrolet of Sammath Kennedy, who had entered Turn 3 with too much speed, sending both cars up the track and backing into the safer barriers, destroying the back end of both cars. While both Cam and Sammath were both able to drive away, they would both pull into the garage with Cam being scored as last since he was behind Sammath pulling behind the wall.

The remaining Bottom Five would finish on the same circuit as the race leaders: 39th was the #66 Phoenix Air Toyota of John Arndt, 38th was the #17 Roulo Brothers Racing Ford of Tommy Hudson and 37th was the #44 Ansell / Menards Toyota of Josh Barker.
