CANADA: Flat tire at the start of the race keeps Eddie Wycombe in the final spot at Kawartha

Eddie Wycombe picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL Tim Hortons Canadian Series career in the Season 2 Pinty's 250 Presented by Dodge at the Kawartha Speedway when his #47 WeatherTech Canada / Bellemare Dodge completed 21 of the 25 laps under power.

The finish came in his 12th career start. In the SCRL Tim Hortons Canadian Series, it's the 1st for car #47 and the 8th for running at the finish. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 6th for the #47 and the 158th for running at the finish.

Despite the fact that Wycombe is a two time winner in the SCRL, with his first coming in the SCRL CatDog Pro Series West Season 1 finale at Sonoma, and the second in the SCRL Icebreakers Whelen Series at Thompson, Wycombe is still trying to make a name for himself and become a well known name. Having competed in several series, Wycombe hadn't raced in the Canadian Series until this season. Wycombe finished a disappointing 28th at CTMP, a 6th at ICAR, 23rd at CTMP Oval, 30th at Delaware, 24th at Motoplex, 7th at Edmonton, 17th at Auto Clearing, 27th at Trois-Rivieres and a series best at Montreal. A finish of 13th at Barrie and a 9th at Riverside placed Wycombe 15th in points heading into the final race.

On race day, Wycombe rolled off starting 17th while starting last was Season 1 SCRL Tim Hortons Canadian Series SCRLASTCAR Champion the #36 VR Victoriaville Dodge of Carter Joey, who locked up the championship one race earlier at Riverside. As the field made it's way off of pit road, Wycombe's car began to slow as he pulled to the inside of the track, limping around and pulled onto pit road behind the pace car as the green flag was waved. Wycombe's team looked over the car and found that the left front tire was flat and quickly gave their driver four fresh new tires and sent their driver back out onto the track, four laps down, and due to the lack of cautions, Wycombe was unable to gain any spots and easily stayed on last-place for the entire length of the race.

Rounding out the Bottom Five were drivers who finish the race on the same lap as the race leaders: 31st was the #99 White Motorsports Chevrolet of Joshua Rush, 30th was CTMP last-place finisher the #71 L'Equipeur Dodge of Brian Fox, 29th was the #4 Fitzpatrick Motorsports Chevrolet of AJ Jones and 28th was the #36 of Carter Joey.

Crossing the start/finish line in 9th was Chris Kyle, who is the Season 2 SCRL Tim Hortons Canadian Series Champion, his first championship in the SCRL. Despite scoring 9 career wins, his most recent coming at Trois-Rivieres, Kyle had never competed seriously for the championship as he had been focusing on running his own league, the ISCR. During his championship season, Kyle never once scored a last-place finish, he's trailed the field 8 times in his entire SCRL career, with his worst finish of the season being a 26th at Delaware. Congratulations to Chris Kyle and the entire GC Motorsports team on their first ever championship.
