Throwback BUSCH: Kyle Mests gets first last-place finish of the season at Darlington

Kyle Mests picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL Wrangler Jeans Busch Grand National Series career in the Season 1 TranSouth 200 at the Darlington Raceway when his #12 Industrial Boiler Pontiac finished under power, completing all 37 laps.

The finish came in his 5th start. Entering Season 1 of the Busch Series, Mests has shown his talents in other series and was hoping to continue that in the SCRL's second highest series. In his debut for the series, Mests finished 24th at Daytona, a career best 7th at Richmond, 26th at Bristol and tying his career best of 7th in the last round at Martinsville.

On race day, Mests would roll off starting in the 40th spot while the #88 unsponsored Pontiac of Keith Stevens started last when the green flag dropped. A caution free raced allowed for the races to be given a great showing as would swap nine times among five drivers, while the same could be same for the battle for last, but details on just how many times has been lost due to poor record details, but it is known that by the time the Checkered Flag was flown Mests was more then ten seconds behind the race leaders, and the first last-place finish of his busch career was his.

The remaining Bottom Five finished on the same lap as the race leaders: 41st was the #21 Chattanooga Chew Pontiac of Derrick Edision, 40th was the #10 Gibson Racing Pontiac of Chakat Whitelion, 39th was the #2 unsponsored Pontiac of Luke Rainey and 38th was the #02 unsponsored Pontiac of Grayson Acevedo.

Kyle Mests continues to compete in the SCRL from time to time and has scored four career wins in his entire SCRL career.
