Throwback CUP: Daniel Bouchard gets first last place-finish in the cup series in caution free race at Hamburg

Daniel Bouchard picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL Strictly Stock Series career at the Hamburg Speedway when his #1 unsponsored Oldsmobile completed all 25 laps under power.

The finish came in his 4th start. At the time the SCRL announced it would be running it's biggest series ever, Bouchard was just one of many drivers trying to have a good season. Having yet to finish visit victory lane, Bouchard signed up to be a part of the thirty eight car field. In his series debut, Bouchard finished 26th at Charlotte, 39th at Beach & Road Course and 38th at Hillsborough.

The entry list for the Hamburg race was a twenty three car field, as earlier in the day, the other 21 drivers competed in a race at the Langhorne Speedway, a tradition that NASCAR had used in their early days of running two races a day.

On race day, Bouchard would roll off starting in the 17th spot while the #96 Oldsmobile of Truttle would roll off in the last spot. Another caution free raced allowed for great battles on the track, as Bouchard struggled with his car as it appeared to lack power right off the start and by the end of the race, Bouchard had taken last, eighteen seconds behind the race leaders.

Rounding out the Bottom Five was drivers who finished on the same lap as the race leaders; 22nd was Beach & Road Course last-place finisher the #99 unsponsored Ford of Zapatos Amarrados, 21st was the #78 Oldsmobile of Clyde Sparks, 20th was the #41 Buick of Nick Kennedy and 19th was the #17 of Cole Nixey.

Bouchard would never feel the taste of champagne as he would go winless in his cup career, but he would finally pick up his first career win and then another, as he currently has two career wins.
