Keith Stevens picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL Rainbow Dash Truck Series career in Thursday's Chevy Desert Star Classic at the Phoenix International Raceway when his #55 Gloy Racing Ford was involved in a multi-truck crash after 2 of 32 laps.
The finish, came in Stevens's 4th series start. Entering Season 3 of the Rainbow Dash Truck Series, Stevens had found some form of success as he had scored one career win and was hoping to continue it in this series. Stevens would finish an uneventful 24th at Phoenix in his series debut, and finishing 31st at Tucson and Homestead the past two events.
On race day Torres would roll off the grid 37th while trailing the field was the #26 Mittler Brothers Machine & Tool Ford of Derrick Edison but when the green flag was dropped, the by the #90 NHL Ford of Muhammad Zain Abdullah had made a trip to pit road, reporting of a flat tire and his crew was able to get him back out on the track just in front of the leaders before chaos would break out.
Heading into Turn 1, the #24 Quaker State Chevrolet of Sebastian Torres would make contact with the #2 Team ASE Racing Ford of Jay Jefferson as a multi truck wreck would break out involving ten trucks as Keith Stevens was one of the first on the scene, running into the #98 Raybestos Ford of Jason Larker, giving Stevens enough damage that the team was done for the day.
The remaining bottom five was filled up by lap 4 by drivers who were involved in the same wreck; 39th went to the aforementioned #24 of Sebastian Torres, 38th went to the #01 Highwallers Racing Chevrolet of Marcos Yepez, 37th to the #76 Action Performance Chevrolet of Yang Canario and 36th to Tucson race winner the #80 LCI Telecommunications Ford of Greg Lee.
