CUP: Late spin at Morristown leads to second last-place finish of the season for Chakat Duskwatcher

Chakat Duskwatcher picked up the 2nd last place finish of hir SCRL Grand National Series career in Monday's Race 22 at the Morristown Speedway when hir #69 Oldsmobile completed all 20 laps under power.

The finish, which came in hir 22nd career series start, was hir first on the circuit since Race 19 at the Altamont-Schenectady Fairgrounds when shi completed all 20 laps under power; 3 races ago. In the SCRL Grand National Series, it's the 2nd for car #69 and the 34th for running at the finish. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 5th for the #69 and 355th for running at the finish.

After trailing at Altamont-Schenectady, Duskwatcher would continue to struggle, finishing 34th in the next round at Detroit before finishing in the points in 11th in the last round at Fort Miami.

The entry list for the 16th time this season would be filled with only the full-time drivers, the second race in a row. The full-time drivers are not scheduled to return until the 24th race of the season, the Southern 500 at the Darlington Raceway.

In qualifying, Bent Davison would score his first pole of the season, with a time of 20.819 seconds. Duskwatcher would struggle around the bumpy half mile track, posting a time of 21.129, 0.310 off Davison's pole time, placing placing Duskwatcher 14th on the grid. Securing the 22nd and final starting spot was two-time last-place finisher the #60 Plymouth of Josh Barker, who posted a time of 21.296, 0.477 seconds off Davison's time.

When the race started, Barker would struggle for the first lap, trailing it before he knocked Canfield last-place finisher the #50 Mercury of Christian Russel into last on Lap 2, but Russel's stay in last was also only one lap as he knocked the #4 of Austin Line into last on Lap 3. Line would trail for two laps before knocking the #22 Hudson of Chris Kyle into last on Lap 5, a position he would hold just for one lap before knocking Duskwatcher back to last for the first time on Lap 6. Duskwatcher would trail for two laps before shi knocked Charlotte last-place finisher the #8 Fry Motors Lincoln of Chris Tuckett back to last on Lap 8.

The race's lone caution on Lap 9.
As the field entered Turn 1 to begin Lap 9, Duskwatcher was battle Kyle and Columbia last-place finisher the #78 Lincoln of Addy Jade for 19th as the three cars stayed together, sending all three cars for a spin, bringing out the race's lone caution of the day, with Jade coming back last to the start/finish line. Jade would remain in the final spot as the field drove behind the pace car, but when the green flag came back out, Jade was quick to knock Duskwatcher back to last on Lap 14. With six laps to go, Duskwatcher had a chance of not trailing the field again, but shi would go the opposite way, losing ground fast and would actually be seen in front of the leaders in the final laps, finishing a full twenty one seconds behind when the checkered flag waved.

The remaining Bottom Five were: 21st was the aforementioned #22 of Chris Kyle, 20th was the #78 of Addy Jade, 19th was Columbus last-place finisher the #51 Cherokee Garage Oldsmobile of Austin Abilene and 18th was the #4 of Austin Line.
