SHORT TRACK: Rebecca Zeal becomes first driver to trail the field twice at Martinsville

Rebecca Zeal picked up the 2nd last place finish of her SCRL Short Track Division career in Tuesday's Season 1 Race 6 at the Martinsville Speedway when her #17 Carling Dodge completed all 20 laps under power.

The finish, which came in her 6th career start, was her first on the circuit since Race 1 at Dayton Speedway where she competed all 20 laps under power; 5 races ago. In the SCRL Short Track Division, it's the 2nd for car #17 and the 5th for running at the finish. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 12th for the #17 and the 333rd for running at the finish.

After trailing in her first ever start, Zeal would continue to struggle in her SCRL career by finishing 20th in the next round at Charlotte, before finally scoring her first points paying position in her third career start at Greenville-Pickens where she finished 4th. A disappointing 21st at Hickory would be followed by a 16th place finish in the last round at Bowman-Gray.

In qualifying, rookie Joshua Miller would win his first career series pole, posting a time of 24.511 seconds. Starting last in the race was Zeal, who was unable to post a time in qualifying, due to suffering a flat tire during her qualifying lap.

On race day, Zeal would trail for the first two laps around the half mile dirt track before making her move and knocking Bowman-Gray last-place finisher the #13 Smokey's Chevrolet Chakat Blackpaw into last place on Lap 3. Blackpaw's stay in the final spot would last three laps before knocking Zeal back to last on Lap 6. Zeal would trail for another two laps before knocking the #74 unsponsored Chevrolet of John Joseph into last on Lap 9 before Joseph would once again knock Zeal back to last for the third time in the race on Lap 10. Zeal would remain in last for the next two laps under the race's lone caution came out on Lap 13 when the #2 Dayvaults Ford of Hale Hyatt would be spun out by Zeal coming out of Turn 4 and placing Hyatt in last on Lap 13. When the race was restarted with one lap to go, Hyatt quickly dispatched of Zeal in Turn 3 on the final lap and gave Zeal her second last-place finish of the season.
