SHORT TRACK DIVISION: Zane McClure scores first career last-place finish at Greenville-Pickens

Zane McClure picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL Short Track Division career in Monday's Season 1 Race 3 at the Greenville-Pickens Speedway when his #1 Hawaiian Tropic Chevrolet completed 19 of the 20 laps under power.

The finish came in his 3rd career start. In the SCRL Short Track Division, it's the 1st for car #1 and the 3rd for running at the finish. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 17th for the #1 and the 331st for running at the finish.

Entering the SCRL's newest series, McClure is a rookie when it comes to the SCRL, having never competed in any series before signing up to compete in this series. McClure's debut would of course start off with a struggle as he qualified 15th and would finish 13th at Dayton before starting 11th and finished a disappointing 17th in the last round at Charlotte.

In qualifying, Rohan Marmot would win his first career series pole, posting a time of 27.698 seconds. McClure would be very impressive in just his third ever attempt in qualifying, posting a time of 27.750 seconds, 0.052 seconds behind Rohan's pole, which placed him 2nd on the starting lineup, the best all season. Starting last in the race was the #32 Crazy Dave's Chevrolet of Juniper Skunktaur, who posted the slowest time of 28.450, 0.752 seconds behind Rohan's pole winning time.

Zane McClure stalls on pit road.
On race day, as the field began to pull out of the pits to begin their pace lap, McClure's car would stall on pit road, due to a flat right front tire, as the field would get held up by his car, forcing a lot of drivers on the inside line to not be lined up when the green flag waved. McClure's team would struggle to get the tire off as McClure would lose a lap before being sent back out on the track. Hoping that other drivers would have a problem, McClure stayed in the fight for the entire event, unfortunately for him, no other drivers would face problems, with McClure being the only driver to not finish on the lead lap when the checkered flag waved.

The remaining Bottom Five would finish on the same lap as the race leaders; 21st was #57 Dew Drop Inn Ford of Chase Miller, 20th was the #9 Coors Ford of Bailey Leigh, 19th was the #58 Designs Mods Racing Dodge of Joshua Miller and 18th was the #5 Black River Dodge of Bussy Beavers.
