Cam Nixey picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL Rainbow Dash Truck Series career in the Season 1 Fas Mart Supertruck Shootout at the Richmond International Raceway when his #35 Rain-X / Press Pass Racing Cards Chevrolet was involved in a multi-truck wreck after 2 of the 40 laps.
The finish came in his 15th career series start.
Cam was one of several rookies looking to make a name for himself in the SCRL's third highest division by competing in the truck series. Cam's career started off with a 10th at Phoenix, 12th at Tucson, 2nd at Saugus, 12th at Mesa Marin, 19th at Portland, 14th at Evergreen, 19th at I-70, 30th at Louisville, 24th at Bristol, 8th at Milwaukee, 11th at Colorado, 7th at Heartland Park, 8th at IRP before scoring his 1st career Truck Series win in the last round at Flemington.
On race day, Cam would roll off starting 22nd while starting last was the #38 Channellock Tools Ford of Brian Fox. Fox would trail the field for the first two turns when going down the backstretch, the #87 Burger King Chevrolet of Colin Dryburgh was spun out by the #74 Mesa Marin Raceway Chevrolet of HIPHOPANOUNMOUS with Dryburgh trailing the field for the first lap. As the field slowed for the pace car, Cam ran into the back of another truck, damaging the radiator and ending his night after two laps.
Finishing 39th was the #6 Total Petroleum Chevrolet of Jonathan Raines, who was involved in the third caution of the night, ending his night after 18 laps.
The remaining Bottom Five would be involved in the fourth caution on Lap 23; 38th was Flemington last-place finisher the #2 Ultra Custom Wheels / ASE Ford of Josh Barker, 37th was the aforementioned #38 of Brian Fox and 36th was the #23 ASE / American Racing Wheels Ford of Benoit Lothaire-Irvine.
