Throwback TRUCK: Rookie John Racer picks up the lone last-place finish of his career after wild wreck at Bristol

John Racer picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL Rainbow Dash Truck Series career in the Season 1 Pizza Plus 150 at the Bristol International Raceway when his #25 Budweiser Chevrolet was involved in a multi-truck crash after 1 of the 50 laps.

The finish came in his 9th career series start.

Racer was a young rookie looking to make a name for himself in the SCRL, having signed up to drive for Hendrick Motorsports in their second entry to complete for the championship. Racer impressed by finishing 3rd in his debut at Phoenix, 32nd at Tucson, 5th at Saugus and in just his 4th career start, Racer scored his first career win at Mesa Marin. Racer would finish 2nd in the very next round at Portland, 13th at Evergreen, 30th at I-70 before finishing runner up again at Louisville in the last round.

On race day, Racer would roll off starting in 34th place while starting last was the #87 Burger King Chevrolet of Colin Dryburgh. It wouldn't take long for chaos to break out as the #74 Mesa Marin Raceway Chevrolet of HIPHOPANOUNMOUS and the #58 Wayne Jacks Racing Chevrolet of Bulldog67 made contact in Turn 2, sending Bulldog67 for a spin. Back in the pack, Racer swerved to miss the spinning truck before coming back across the track right in front of the #88 Churchill Motorsports Chevrolet of Luke Rainey, sending Racer into the outside wall headon with enough force it sent Racer's truck for one flip before landing back on all four wheels, with the truck completely destroyed and done for the night.

The remaining Bottom Five would also be knocked out in the same crash; 39th was the #08 Ultra Custom Wheels Ford of Evan Rudd, 38th was the #30 Taylor Togs Dodge of Cole Nixey, 37th was Saugus last-place finisher the #06 Ultra Custom Wheels Ford of Caiden Irene and 36th was Portland last-place finisher the #28 NAPA / United Brake Systems Ford of Jack Decker.

Racer's win at Mesa Marin would be the lone victory of his SCRL career as he would go on to finish 20th in the final point standings.
