ARCA Trucks: Flat tire early at Mesa Marin gives rookie Chakat Duskwatcher hir second last-place finish in three races; takes SCRLASTCAR Championship lead with 2 races to go

Chakat Duskwatcher picked up the 1st last place finish of hir SCRL ARCA Truck Series career in Friday's California 50 at the Mesa Marin Raceway when hir #72 Big Blue Dodge finished under power after 28 of 30 laps.

The finish, which came in hir 10th career series start, was his first on the circuit since the ARCATRUCKRACING.com 50 at the Toledo Speedway when shi completed all 20 laps under power, 2 races ago. In the SCRL ARCA Truck Series, it's the 4th for truck #72 and the 13th where the truck was still running. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 10th for the #72 and the 261st where the vehicle was still running.

After trailing in hir first ever SCRL race, Duskwatcher and hir team loaded their truck up and traveled to the legendary Eldora Speedway in hir first attempt at racing on the dirt. Duskwatcher would qualify 9th and remained inside the Top 10 all race long and would settle for a 7th place finish in the last round before the drivers had to travel across the country to the Mesa Marin Raceway for the series second ever race at the short track in series history.

In qualifying, Derrick Jones won his first career pole with a time of 20.255 seconds, while Duskwatcher would post a respectable time of 20.563, 0.308 seconds behind Jones's pole winning time, placing Duskwatcher 10th on the grid while starting last was the unsponsored #88 Chevrolet of Ty Dent, 0.853 seconds behind Jones's pole time.

When the race started, Dent would struggle around the half mile track for the first two laps before knocking Nashville last-place finisher the #3 Gearheart Timber Management Chevrolet of Miguel Rodriguez on the third lap. As the field raced down the backstretch, Duskwatcher who had fallen back to the 15th spot, began to slow entering the backstretch when shi began to slow down, pulling to the inside of the track before stalling, bringing out race's lone caution of the race. Duskwatcher's truck would be towed back to the pits as the crew put four fresh tires on the truck before sending their driver back out on the track, two laps down however. Duskwatcher's only chance of gaining any spots was for another truck to have problems, and for a brief moment there was a little hope when Oxford Plains last-place finisher the #50 Corona Extra / Goosebumps Ford of Jimmy Potter suffered a flat tire himself in the late stages of the race, losing one lap, but would still be Duskwatcher.

The remaining Bottom Five would finish on the same lap as the race leaders: 24th was the aforementioned #3 of Miguel Rodriguez, 23rd was the unsponsored #6 Ford of Alan Hamilton and 22nd was the #05 Little Mountain Insurance Ford of Hunter Blade.
