ARCA Sportsman: Muhammad Zain Abdullah trails for only the third time in his career in series first visit to Palm Beach

Muhammad Zain Abdullah picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL ARCA Sportsman Series career in Thursday's Tire Kingdom 100 at the Palm Beach International Raceway when his #77 Jasper / Lucas Oil Dodge completed all 10 laps under power.

The finish came in his 8th start. In the SCRL ARCA Sportsman Series, it's the 1st for car #77 and the 5th where the car was still running. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 10th for the #77 and the 260th where the car was still running. 

Abdullah has quickly become a top runner in the SCRL after years of competing and never really finding his place until he signed up to compete in the SCRL Formula 2 Series, a season in which he scored four career wins and would pick up his first career championship. Coming back across the pond, Abdullah signed up to compete in the ARCA's Sportsman division in a attempt to possibly winning another championship. Abdullah would finish 21st in his first series start at Toledo, 16th at Mansfield, 21st at the series first road course event at Heartland Park. A 9th at Lucas Oil, 21st at Iowa, 5th at Rockingham before scoring his first series win in the last round at Winchester.

In qualifying Rocco Twyman scored his second career series pole while Abdullah would struggle in qualifying placing Abdullah 28th while starting last was the #66 Lincoln Welders / Bojangles' Dodge of Daryl Lee.

When the race started to begin the series's third and final road course event of the season, Lee would struggle around the two mile road course for the first two laps before finally making a move and knocking Abdullah into the final spot for the third lap. Lee and Abdullah would lose touch with the cars in front of them with Abdullah struggling on the track himself to get back around Lee over the final seven laps and would finish nearly a full second behind Lee at the end of the race.

The remaining Bottom Five were: 27th was the #21 of Top Choice Lumper Products / Jackaroo Toyota of Karl-Jong Bensson, 26th was the #25 Pennzoil / Autolite Chevrolet of Grayson Acevedo and 25th was the #79 Auto Value / Bumper To Bumper / Lucas Oil Dodge of Kenny Webster.
