The finish came in his 13th career series start. In the SCRL ARCA Midget Series, it's the 1st for car #36 and the 9th where the car was still running. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 5th for the #36 and the 264th where the vehicle was still running.
Eugene was one of several rookies who decided to sign up and compete in the ARCA Series's Midget Series with hopes of one day competing in bigger series. In his debut, Eugene finished 15th at Toledo, 14th at Salem, before in just his third career start, Eugene scored his first career SCRL win at Flat Rock. In the very next round, he would struggle once again with a 16th at Devil's Bowl, 12th at Kil-Kare and Indianapolis Speedrome, before rebounding with a 6th at Santa Fe, before struggling again to a 17th at Columbus, 5th at Grundy County, 8th at Eldora, 4th at New Egypt before finishing 8th in the last round at Baer Field.
In qualifying, Juniper Skunktaur scored his first career series pole with a time of 20.987 seconds with Eugene posting a time of 22.098 seconds, a full second behind Juniper's pole run, placing Eugene in last in qualifying for the first time in his brief career.
Eugene would trail around the half mile short track for the event's first lap before the very next time around, Eugene knocked Flat Rock last-place finisher the #71 of Bafode Sacko into the final spot, before Bafode would knock the #3 of Chakat Lightingblaze into last on Lap 3. Lightingblaze would struggle for the first half of the race, while shi would stay with the field, shi found it difficult to pass on the rough Knoxville surface, trailing until Lap 10 when shi finally began to get into a rhythm, knocking Eugene back into the final spot with just five laps to go, and as hard as Eugene tried, he was unable to gain any more spots over the final laps.
The remaining Bottom Five were: 19th was the #12 of Nick Kennedy, 18th was Kil-Kare last-place finisher the #8 of Juniper Skunktaur, 17th was the aforementioned #71 of Bafode Sacko and 18th was the #3 of Chakat Lightingblaze.
