Throwback LEGENDS: Umbreon gets first last-place finish of his career in second caution free race at Talladega

Umbreon picked up the 1st last place finish of his ONL NASCAR Legends Series career in the Season 1 Talladega 500 at the Alabama International Motor Speedway when his #48 Mullins Ford completed all 18 laps under power.

The finish came in his 19th career series start.

In his series debut for the league, Umbreon started 6th at Riverside, but finished a disappointing 15th. A finish of 3rd at Thompson would be Umbreon's best of the finish so far in his career, while in the previous round at Michigan, he finished 13th entering the second ever event at the 2.660 superspeedway, a track where Umbreon finished 5th in the spring event.

On race day, Umbreon would roll off the grid starting last and by Lap 2 Umbreon had fallen more than two seconds behind the race leaders, and due to the lack of no cautions or other drivers falling out, Umbreon was uncontested for the remaining laps.

The remaining Bottom Five finished on the same lap as the race leaders; finishing 19th was summer Michigan last-place finisher the #17 East Tenn. Motor Co. Ford of Packersrock2010, 18th was the #34 unsponsored Ford of Trail Blazer, 17th was the #11 Don Wagner Ford of Onuki and finishing 16th was #22 unsponsored Dodge of Marloc.

Umbreon would never enjoy the taste of victory lane in the ONL(now SCRL) Legends series in 54 career starts, but he would score a runner up finish in the second Charlotte event in Season 1. A finish of 6th would be his best finish in Season 2. Umbreon however would visit victory lane one time in his career, coming in the ONL Classic Busch Series at Chicagoland. Umbreon hasn't competed in a series in the SCRL for several years and the status of the driver in unknown.

Throwback Formula E: Cally Joetta's disappointing Formula E season ends with a broken piston at Canada

Cally Joetta picked up the 2nd last place finish of his SCRL Formula E Series career in the Season 1 Canada ePrix at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park when her #21 Haas F1 Team fell out with piston issues without completing any of the 10 laps.

The finish, which came in her 12th start, was her first on the circuit since the Germany ePrix at Hockenheimring when she was involved in a single-car accident after 1 of 7 laps, 9 races ago

After trailing at Hockenheimring, Joetta was looking to rebound but struggled and finished 21st at Shanghai, before finishing a career best 3rd at Monaco and Long Beach. A 10th at Hungaroring would follow before she would continue to struggle with a 21st at Sebring, a 16th at Suzuka, 14th at Watkins Glen before finishing 20th in the last round at Osterreichring.

On race day, Joetta was scheduled to roll off starting 4th while starting in the final spot was the #26 Scuderia Toro Rosso of Keinan Busch but as soon as the cars started to roll off, Joetta's car started to smoke almost immediately as she was forced to coast back toward the pits and would pull into the garage as the field was given the green flag to start the race. Joetta's team would look over the car as the field made its way to Turn 5, the crew discovered that the piston had broken, ending their season in the garage.

Finishing 21st and 22nd was the #12 Sauber F1 Team of Dustin Joshua and the #77 Williams Martini Racing of Jonathan Raines, who both crashed out in Turn 10 as Joshua's car remained on track done for the day, while Raines was able to limp across the start/finish line to complete one more lap before pulling behind the wall, his championship in danger depending on where Alex DeFranco finished.

Rounding out the Bottom Five were drivers who finished on the same circuit as the race leaders; 19th was the #22 McLaren-Honda F1 Team of Cam Nixey and 18th was the #55 Scuderia Toro Rosso of James Barker.

For Joetta, she would never enjoy the success of going to victory lane, with her closest being the 3rd place finishes at Monaco and Long Beach, while finishing 13th in the final point standings. She hasn't competed in a SCRL race since.

The Season 1 SCRL Formula E Championship went to Raines, the first for the driver in his SCRL career. Raines would go the entire season without scoring a last-place finish, with his worst finish of the season being the 20th at CTMP.

Throwback ARCA TRUCK: Off screen crash at Toledo gives Lowden Clear the second and final last-place finish of his SCRL career

Lowden Clear picked up the 2nd last place finish of his SCRL ARCA Truck Series career in the Season 1 ARCATRUCKRACING.com 50 at the Toledo Speedway when his #72 Big Blue Dodge was involved in a single-car crash after completing 6 of the 20 laps.

The finish, which came in his 10th career series start, was his first on the circuit since the California 200 at the Mesa Marin Raceway when he completed all 30 laps under power, 8 races ago.

After trailing for the first time in his career at Mesa Marin, Clear would instantly find redemption in the very next race by leading all but one lap and scored his first career SCRL win at Dover. A 5th at Bowman Gray proved his win wasn't a fluke as he would continue his Top 10 streak by finishing 8th at Gateway before struggling to finish 23rd at Eldora, three laps behind the race leaders after being caught up in a early wreck. An 11th at Oxford Plains would be followed by a 3rd at Lanier before Clear would once again rebound by scoring the second win of his career in the last round at Winchester.

On race day, Clear would roll off starting 23rd while starting last was the #54 Mansfield Welding Service Chevrolet of Mike Pearson. Even as the SCRL had made its way to YouTube as the lone broadcast platform for SCRL racing, even back in 2017 this league was not as focused on the back of the field as it is today, so the details of the early laps of this event was not taken note of so the battle for last is mostly unknown, but what is known is that by the time the leaders had completed Lap 6, Clear's truck was shown on pit road sitting in his stall with no explanation as to what had happened to Clear as the cameras would focus on the leaders, as for two more laps Clear's truck would sit in his pit stall before being pushed behind the wall on Lap 8. There is no video or photo footage of what happened to Clear, but what is known is that by Lap 9, Clear's truck was listed as "out" by the officials with the reason given was crash damage.

The remaining Bottom Five would finish on the same lap as the race leaders; 25th was the #50 Corona Extra / Goosebumps Ford of Jimmy Potter, 24th was the #09 Burning Rubber Chevrolet of Wooldoor Sockbat, 23rd was Gateway last-place finisher the #26 Coyote Entertainment Chevrolet of Isaac Nicholls and 22nd was the #05 Little Mountain Insurance Ford of Toot Braunsteain.

For Clear, Dover and Winchester would be the only times he would ever visit victory lane in the SCRL, as he would compete in two more ARCA Truck events, a 22nd in the next event at Rockingham and a 11th in the season finale at Airborne Speedway. Clear would end his season with two wins, the most of any driver that season, 4 Top 5's and 5 Top 10's, and would finish 10th overall in the final point standings. Clear has not competed in a SCRL race since the end of the season back in 2017.
