Alex DeFranco picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL Formula E Series career in the Season 1 Austria ePrix at the Osterreichring when his #94 of Manor Racing completed all 5 laps under power.
The finish came in his 11th start.
DeFranco was one of several rookies who made their debut in the SCRL's second highest Formula division as DeFranco had never completed a lap in SCRL competition and in just his first career start he impressed everyone by finishing runner up to Jonathan Raines at Mexico City. A 12th at Kyalami, 16th at Hockenheimring, a 10th at Shanghai, 4th at Monaco, 4th at Long Beach, 18th at Hungaroring and in his 8th career start, DeFranco would score his first career win at Sebring. A 5th at Suzuka and a 9th in the last round at Watkins Glen would give DeFracno and the Manor Racing team momentum heading into the second to last event of the season.
On race day, DeFranco rolled off starting 2nd, the best starting position all season long, while starting in the final spot was the #14 McLaren-Honda F1 Team of Davis Silvester a spot he would hold on to for the first lap while DeFranco would lose spots early on after smacking the wall in Turn 4 on the first lap and would fall back to 9th after the first lap and the second time around, DeFranco would pull onto pit road for repairs before he was sent back out on the track trying to gain spots over the final laps, falling a full minute behind the race leaders by the time the checkered flag waved.
Rounding out the Bottom Five were: 21st was Mexico City last-place finisher the #20 Renault Sport F1 Team of Gavyn Moore, 20th was Hockenheimring last-place finisher the #21 Haas F1 Team of Cally Joetta, 19th was the #12 Sauber F1 Team of Dustin Joshua and 18th was the aforementioned #14 of Davis Silvester.
Sebring would be DeFranco's lone victory in the SCRL as he wouldn't be around for long in the racing league, finishing 5th in his final race in the last round at CTMP and finishing 2nd in points to Jonathan Raines in the championship. DeFranco hasn't competed in a SCRL race since.
