Throwback V8: Tire problems places Cam Nixey in last at Lakeside

Cam Nixey picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL V8 Supercar Series career in the Lakeview 150 at the Lakeside International Raceway when his #22 Mobil 1 Toyota completed all 6 laps under power.

The finish came in his 2nd career start.

Cam was one of two Nixey's that joined to compete in the first ever season of the V8 Supercar Series, along with his brother Cole, the brothers were looking to make a name for themselves and continue their good runs in the Australian based series. In his first career start, Cam started 11th and finished a disappointing 24th in the last round at Barbagallo.

On race day, Cam rolled off pit road starting in the 23rd spot while starting in last was the #50 Supercheap Auto Toyota of Max Anderson as the leagued raced for the first time ever at the twisting 1.497 mile road course. Not much records was kept during the event as the cameras focused on the battle up front, but during the course of the six lap event, Cam was forced to make an unscheduled pit stop after suffering a flat right rear tire. Cam was able to limp back around and got two right side tires before being sent back out on the track, just seconds before race leader Evan Hunter was able to lap him. With no caution coming out, Cam was forced to hold on from going a lap down over the final laps, but would trail in the race.

The remaining Bottom Five were: 39th was the #67 Sirromet Wines Toyota of Evan Rudd, 38th was the #10 Orrcon Ford of Kian Raleigh-Howell, 37th was the aforementioned #50 of Max Anderson and 36th was Barbagallo last-place finisher the #55 Autobarn Toyota of Connor Thunder.
