TRUCKS: Zachary DiLello trails in second straight race at Gateway



Zachary DiLello picked up the 2nd last place finish of his SCRL Rainbow Dash Truck Series career in the Ram Tough 200 at the Gateway International Raceway when his #21 HS Die & Engineering Ford completed all 16 laps under power.

The finish, which came in his 19th career series start, was his first on the circuit since the Power Stroke 200 by Ford at the Indianapolis Raceway Park when his #21 HS Die & Engineering Ford completed all 20 laps under power; 1 race ago. In the Truck Series's last-place rankings, it was the 36th for running at the finish and 2nd for the #21. Across SCRL's top three series, it was the 126th for running at the finish and the 4th for #21.

After a disappointing finish at IRP, DiLello and his Steele Racing team was looking forward to rebounding by having a good running in the Truck Series second ever appearance at the 1.250 mile speedway as both driver and team would be making their first ever attempt at the track. With DiLello placed 13th in points and 3rd in the Rookie of the Year, DiLello's season needed to be turned around if he was going to be a contender in both.

The entry list for the thirteenth time this season would the usual 36 entries. In qualifying, Chakat Whitelion would score his fourth career series pole, posting a time of 35.742 seconds. DiLello would truck struggle in qualifying around the 1.250 mile track, posting a time of 35.996 seconds, 0.254 seconds behind Whitelion's time, placing him 30th on the starting line up. Texas last-place finisher the #16 NAPA Auto Parts Chevrolet of Samet Ozkan would be the last to get in on speed, posting a time of 36.170 seconds, who was 0.428 seconds behind Whitelion's lap time.

On race night, DiLello would start his night off well as he would knock the #24 GMAC Financial Services Chevrolet of Alexander Rowe into last place as Rowe would trail for the first lap and than the second before he'd knock DiLello back to last once again on Lap 3. DiLello would remain in the final spot over the next five laps before making a move and knocking Nashville last-place finisher the #2 Team ASE Racing Ford of Dilan Ebrahimian into last on Lap 9. Ebrahimian would struggle to keep up with the field over the final laps as it appeared he'd be finishing last for the second time this season as the field took the white flag. DiLello however at this time was struggling for grip on the track and would be passed by Ebrahimian in Turn 2 on the final lap and would be unable to regain the position back over the final two turns and would cross the start/finish line in last place for the second straight race.

The remaining Bottom Five were: 35th was the aforementioned #1 of Angel Gutiérrez, 34th was the #44 of Mitchell Hodack, 33rd was the #0 Buyers Choice Chevrolet of Rogal Doran and 32nd was the #83 of Max Anderson.

TRUCKS: Zachary DiLello trails for first time in his career at IRP



Zachary DiLello picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL Rainbow Dash Truck Series career in the Power Stroke 200 by Ford at the Indianapolis Raceway Park when his #21 HS Die & Engineering Ford completed all 20 laps under power.

The finish came in his 18th career series start. In the Truck Series's last-place rankings, it was the 35th for running at the finish and 1st for the #21. Across SCRL's top three series, it was the 125th for running at the finish and the 3rd for #21.

DiLello was one of seventeen drivers that were making their Rainbow Dash Truck Series debuts, as well as one of a record nineteen drivers competing for Rookie of the Year, choosing to sign to drive for Steele Racing, who were also making their debut season in the Truck Series. DiLello would be impressive in his debut by finishing 13th at Homestead, finishing 35th at Phoenix, 14th at Evergreen before scoring his first ever Top 10 by finishing 7th at Mesa Marin. A 34th at Martinsville would be followed by a career best runner up at Memphis followed by a 9th at Pikes Peak, 16th at I-70, 35th at Bristol, 6th at Texas, 28th at Portland, 13th at Watkins Glen, 17th at Milwaukee Mile, 17th at Nashville, 5th at Nazareth, 21st at Michigan before finishing 4th in the last round at New Hampshire.

The entry list for the twelfth time this season would the usual 36 entries. In qualifying, Chris Kyle would score his fourth career series pole, posting a time of 23.368 seconds. DiLello would truck struggle in qualifying around the 0.686 mile track, posting a time of 40.940 seconds, 0.324 seconds behind Kyle's time, placing him 29th on the starting line up. The #1 Mopar Performance Dodge of Angel Gutiérrez would be the last to get in on speed, posting a time of 32.064 seconds, who was 0.440 seconds behind Kyle's lap time.

On race night, Gutiérrez would struggle for the first few laps around the track as he would trail for the first five laps before knocking the #44 Federated Auto Parts Ford of Mitchell Hodack on Lap 6 as Hodack would trail behind the field for the next six laps before he knocked Watkins Glen last-place finisher the #83 Gwaltney / FW Siebert Construction Ford of Max Anderson into last on Lap 12. Anderson's stay in the final spot would only last two laps before knocking DiLello into last on Lap 14. DiLello would try over the remaining six laps to gain a spot to prevent from finishing last for the first time in his career but would not have the power as he finished a full eighteen seconds behind the race leaders when the checkered flag waved.

TRUCKS: Flat Tire gives Nick Holiday his first last-place finish in Truck Series; becomes sixth driver to finish last in all three Top Series



Nick Holiday picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL Rainbow Dash Truck Series career in the Pennzoil / VIP Auto Discount Auto Center 200 at the New Hampshire International Speedway when his #68 Hot Wheels Dodge completed 17 of the 20 laps under power.

The finish came in his 68th career series start. In the Truck Series's last-place rankings, it was the 34th for running at the finish and 1st for the #68. Across SCRL's top three series, it was the 124th for running at the finish and the 1st for #68.

Holiday, who made his first appearance in the Truck Series back in Season 2, has built up a decent career, having scored 1 win in the Truck Series, coming at Memphis in Season 4, 5 Top 5s, 11 Top 10s and 49 laps led, with a best finish of 22nd in points in Season 4. Holiday would choose to sign with Impact Motorsports for his third ever season and it would start off with a 7th at Homestead, 22nd at Phoenix before finishing 26th at Evergreen, in what was the series's 100th race. A 17th at Mesa Marin would be followed by his second career series win at Martinsville before finishing 29th at Memphis, the site of his first career win the season previously. A 8th at Pikes Peak would be followed with a 14th at I-70, 18th at Bristol, 30th at Texas, 10th at Portland, 32nd at Watkins Glen, 28th at Milwaukee Mile, 11th at Nashville, 8th at Nazareth before finishing 18th in the last round at Michigan.

The entry list for the eleventh time this season would the usual 36 entries. In qualifying, Al Lagasee would score his first career series pole, posting a time of 31.620 seconds. Holiday would truck struggle in qualifying around the 1.058 mile track, posting a time of 40.940 seconds, 0.344 seconds behind Lagasee's time, placing him 32nd on the starting line up. Two-time last-place finisher the unsponsored #38 unsponsored Chevrolet of Ashton Tifft would be the last to get in on speed, posting a time of 32.064 seconds, who was 0.444 seconds behind Lagasee's lap time.

On race day, the battle for last ended seconds after the drivers were given the command to start the engines as Holdiay's truck would slow coming off of pit road, with the truck pulling to the inside line and limping before stalling on the backstretch. The truck would be towed back to pit road as the race went green, with the crew replacing all four tires, finding that the left rear was completely flat, before sending their driver back out onto the track, having lost three laps to the race leaders. Hoping that another truck would have problems, Holiday would race around the track, posting lap times just a hundredth off the race leaders, but a lack of incidents would bring no cautions, with Holiday being the only driver to not finish on the same lap as the race leaders.

TRUCKS: Blown engine prevents Riley Spurlytube from completing a lap at Michigan; becomes all time last-place finisher in Truck Series



Riley Spurlytube picked up the 5th last place finish of his SCRL Rainbow Dash Truck Series career in the goracing.com 200 at the Michigan Speedway when his #8 GM Goodwrench Service Chevrolet fell out with engine problems without completing any of the 10 laps.

The finish, which came in his 106th career series start, was his first on the circuit since the Season 4 Lund Look 275K at Heartland Park Topeka when his #22 Red Dog Ford completed 8 of the 9 laps under power; 25 races ago. In the Truck Series's last-place rankings, it was the 18th for engine issues and 4th for the #8. Across SCRL's top three series, it was the 24th for engine issues and the 7th for #8.

Entering his fifth ever season in the Truck Series, Spurlytube has built up a great career, having scored 2 wins in the Truck Series, while 19 overall in the SCRL, which ranks him 5th all time as well as having one championship in his career, in the SCRL CART Series. For his fifth attempted at the truck championship, Spurlytube signed on to drive for Richard Childress Racing as a second entry to rookie teammate Colin Cropley. Spurlytube's season would start off with a disappointing 29th at Homestead, 19th at Phoenix and a 30th at Evergreen before scoring his first Top 10 of the season, a 9th at Mesa Marin. A 5th in the next round at Martinsville would place Spurlytube 15th in points and he would back up his momentum by finishing 3rd at Memphis. A 15th at Pikes Peak would be followed by a 4th at I-70, 11th at Bristol, 4th at Texas, 9th at Portland, 16th at Watkins Glen, 6th at the Milwaukee Mile, 14th at Nashville before finishing 25th in the last round at Nazareth.

The entry list for the tenth time this season would the usual 36 entries. In qualifying, Texas last-place finish Samet Ozkan would score his second straight career series pole, posting a time of 40.612 seconds. Spurlytube's truck would struggle in qualifying around the two mile track, posting a time of 40.940 seconds, 0.328 seconds behind Ozkan's time, placing him 32nd on the starting line up. The #51 unsponsored Chevrolet of Zachary Fitzwater would be the last to get in on speed, as during his qualifying lap he would suffer a flat tire, posting a time of 143.305 seconds, who was 102.693 seconds behind Ozkan's lap time.

On race day, the battle for last ended seconds after the drivers were given the command to start the engines as Spurlytube's truck began to smoke heavily as he pulled to the side to allow the drivers behind him access around. Spurlytube would limp around on the apron before following the pace truck down pitroad before pulling into the garage as the field took the green flag. His team would look under the hood and would discover that the problem was terminal, and with only ten laps being the distance of the race, it was decided to not attempt to make repairs, with the truck being listed as "out" by the fifth lap.

Finishing 35th was two-time last place finisher the #43 Dodge Motorsports Dodge of Chris Kyle, who was forced to pit early during the event due to a flat tire, losing a lap early and was never able to get it back.

Finishing 34th was fellow two-time last place finisher the #04 Chelsea Dodge of Hilda Pierson, who would be involved in the last lap crash after the #75 Spears Manufacturing Chevrolet of Michael Hoaks suffered a broken Piston, with Pierson running into the back of Hoak's truck in Turn 2 and spinning out before being hit in the driver's door by the #17 Hollandia Sunroofs Chevrolet of Lucien Bianchi, causing her truck to flip and land on her roof, sliding for more than five hundred feed before coming to stop on the grass on the backstretch.

The remaining Bottom Five were: 33rd the #17 Hollandia Sunroofs Chevrolet of Lucien Bianchi and 32nd was the #75 Spears Manufacturing Chevrolet of Michael Hoaks, who were both involved in the last lap crash, but would limp across the start/finish to be scored having completed all the laps.

TRUCKS: Flat tire at Nazareth gives rookie Matthew Hubert first career last-place finish



Matthew Hubert picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL Rainbow Dash Truck Series career in the NAPA Autocare 200 at the Nazareth Speedway when his #45 Acxiom Ford completed 17 of the 20 laps under power.

The finish came in his 15th career series start. In the Truck Series's last-place rankings, it was the 33rd for running at the finish and 1st for the #45. Across SCRL's top three series, it was the 123rd for running at the finish and the 4th for #45.

Hubert was one of seventeen drivers that were making their Rainbow Dash Truck Series debuts, as well as one of a record nineteen drivers competing for Rookie of the Year, choosing to sign to drive for Morgan-Dollar Motorsports as a teammate to Sebastian Torres. Hubert's first race would show the talent the driver had, starting 11th, he would climb up the running order and would finish 9th in his debut. Another 9th at Phoenix in the following round would be followed by his worse finish of the season, a 10th, at Evergreen before scoring his first career win by beating his teammate at Mesa Marin. Four races in with four Top 5's and a win it looked like it was going to be a history making season for Hubert, but after scoring his first win, he would struggle to maintain the momentum with finishes of 21st at Martinsville, 14th at Memphis, 12th at Pikes Peak, and 17th at I-70 before scoring his first Top ten since his win at Mesa Marin by finishing 3rd at Bristol. A 21st at Texas, 25th at Portland and a 28th at Watkins Glen would be followed by a 7th at the Milwaukee Mile before finishing 8th in the last round at Nashville.

The entry list for the ninth time this season would the usual 36 entries. In qualifying, Texas last-place finisher Samet Ozkan would score his first career series pole, posting a time of 31.905 seconds. Hubert's truck would struggle in qualifying around the one mile track, posting a time of 32.295 seconds, 0.390 seconds behind Ozkan's time, placing him 25th on the starting line up. The #98 Porter-Cable Power Tools Ford of Al Lagasee would be the last to get in on speed, posting a time of 32.531 seconds, who was 0.626 seconds behind Ozkan's lap time.

On race day, Lagasee was determined to not finish last for the first time in his career as he would quickly knock the #32 Miller Brothers Garage Dodge of Juniper Skunktaur into last, who would trail for the first lap. Skunktaur would knock the #29 Mopar Performance Dodge of Skyler Taylor into last as Taylor would trail for two laps before knocking the #14 Circle Bar Motel & RV Park Ford of Michael Brown into last on Lap 4. Brown would then knock Lagasee back to last, who would trail for two circuits before knocking Brown back to last for the second time on Lap 7. Brown would trail for two laps himself before knocking Juniper back to last on Lap 9, before Lagasee assumed the final spot once again on Lap 10 and appeared he was going to trail for the remainder of the race until on Lap 16, Hubert, who had lost nine positions since the race began, slowed in Turn 1 as the other drivers passed, limping back to pit road he would lose two laps and then a third on pit road before being sent back out on the track. With no cautions coming out, Hubert would be the only driver to not finish on the same lap as the race leaders.

The remaining Bottom Five were: 35th the aforementioned #98 of Al Lagasee, 34th the #14 of Michael Brown, the #60 CAT Rental Stores Chevrolet and 32nd was the #32 of Juniper Skunktaur.

TRUCKS: Dilan Ebrahimian edges Brian Fox by a matter of feet in last-place battle at Nashville



Dilan Ebrahimian picked up the 2nd last place finish of his SCRL Rainbow Dash Truck Series career in the Federated Auto Parts 250 at the Nashville Speedway when his #2 Team ASE Racing Ford fell out with engine problems without completing any of the 25 laps.

The finish, which came in his 41st career series start, was his first on the circuit since the Season 4 NAPA 250 at the Martinsville Speedway when his #6 RE/MAX International Chevrolet fell out with engine issues without completing any of the 25 laps; 18 races ago. In the Truck Series's last-place rankings, it was the 17th for engine issues and 4th for the #2. Across SCRL's top three series, it was the 23rd for engine issues and the 5th for #2.

Ebrahimian has only one season under his belt competing in the Rainbow Dash Truck Series, making his debut for Chesrown Racing in Season 4 and having a successful season, scoring 9 Top 10s, 6 Top 5 finishes, including his first career series win at Richmond in his 20th career series start and finishing 3rd in points. Despite a successful season, Ebrahimian chose to not return to drive for Chesrown Racing and instead chose to sign with Jim Smith and his Ultra Motorsports team. Ebrahimian's season got off to a rocky start with finishes of 24th at Homestead and 30th at Phoenix before finishing 12th at Evergreen. Ebrahimian would go back to struggling with a 21st at Mesa Marin, before scoring back-to-back 15th place finishes at Martinsville and Memphis, a 19th at Pikes Peak before scoring his worst finish of the season, a 30th at I-70. Ebrahimian would pick up his season best 5th at Bristol before it was back to bad results with a 31st at Texas, 34th at Portland, 9th at Watkins Glen before finishing 8th in the last round at the Milwaukee Mile.

The entry list for the sixth time this season would be bumped up to 37 as Jamie Timber's Team 23 Racing made their fifth appearance of the season. In qualifying, Chakat Duskwatcher would score hir first career series pole, posting a time of 21.261 seconds. Ebrahimian's truck would struggle to get through inspection during qualifying and thus wouldn't post a time in qualifying, securing him the 37th and final spot on the grid.

On race day, the battle for last ended just seconds after the command to start the engines as the drivers completed their lone pace lap, Dilan Ebrahimian would pull to the inside of the track and onto pit road at the same time as the #34 Sprint Prepaid Phonecard Dodge of Brian Fox, who was scheduled to start 15th. Both trucks would pull behind the wall as the race went green, with both teams looking over their trucks, each would discover that their engine had suffered terminal failure and both would be listed as "Out" by the fourth lap, with Ebrahimian being given the final spot due to his place on the grid.

Finishing 35th was the #46 Acxiom Ford of Sebastian Torres, who suffered a flat tire with less than ten laps to go while running in 29th, losing two laps in the process, but would be running at the finish.

Finishing 34th was Homestead race winner the #12 Team ASE / Ultra Wheels Ford of Reggie Fogleman, who, after suffering rear end damage during the race's first caution, would limp around the track for the rest of the event, losing a lap to the leaders on Lap 23, but would be running at the finish.

Rounding out the Bottom Five in 33rd was the #32 Miller Brothers Garage Dodge of Juniper Skunktaur, who had himself lost a lap earlier in the event after suffering a flat tire as well, would fight back and kept himself in front of the leaders to be scored as the last truck on the lead lap.

TRUCKS: Blown Engine prevents Josh Harmon from completing a lap at Milwaukee Mile



Josh Harmon picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL Rainbow Dash Truck Series career in the DieHard 200 at the Milwaukee Mile when his #87 AER / Bully Hill Vineyards Chevrolet fell out with engine problems without completing any of the 20 laps.

The finish came in his 13th career series start. In the Truck Series last-place rankings, it was the 16th for engine issues and 2nd for the #87. Across SCRL's top three series, it was the 22nd for engine issues and the 4th for #87.

Harmon is a rookie when it comes to competing in the SCRL, with the fifth season of the SCRL Rainbow Dash Truck Series being the first ever season he ever signed up for, choosing to sign with NEMCO Motorsports with hopes of the Rookie of the Year award, a few Top 10's, Top 5's and possibly a win once him and his team had worked out any early problems. Harmon's first ever start would be in the season opener at Homestead, qualifying 18th before scoring a shocking runner up finish to Reggie Fogleman. A disappointing 32nd at Phoenix and a 27th in the series's 100th race at Evergreen would be followed with a 6th at Mesa Marin, a career worst 36th at Martinsville, 16th at Memphis, 35th at Pikes Peak, 18th at I-70 and a 28th at Bristol before scoring his second career runner up finish at Texas. Harmon would then bounce back with back-to-back Top 5 finishes on the road course; a 4th at Portland and a 3rd in the last round at Watkins Glen.

The entry list for the eighth time this season would be bumped back down to 36 as Portland and Watkins Glen winner Blaise Zebrataur's #50 Grainger Ford was not on the entry list, with the driver not choosing to complete again until Heartland Park Topeka. In qualifying, Zachary Fitzwater would score his second pole of the season, posting a time of 31.185 seconds.
