TRUCKS: Derrick Edison trails the field for the second straight race at Louisville; locks up LASTCAR title with two races to go




Derrick Edison picked up the 4th last place finish of his SCRL Rainbow Dash Truck Series career in the Kroger 225 at the Louisville Motor Speedway when his #26 Mittler Brothers / American Trucking Ford completed all 20 laps under power.

The finish, which came in his 93rd career series start, was his first on the circuit since the The Orleans 250 at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway when he completed all 17 laps under power; 1 race ago. In the Truck Series's last-place rankings, it was the 40th for running at the finish and 4th for the #26. Across SCRL's top three series, it was the 130th for running at the finish and the 4th for #26.

After trailing the field at Las Vegas, Edison sits 26th in the driver standings, 524 points behind Zachary Fitzwater with only two poles, at Martinsville and Bristol, with a victory at Bristol being the high point of his season.

The entry list for the fourteenth time this season would be the usual 36 entries. In qualifying, Chakat Whitelion would score hir fifth career series pole, posting a time of 15.492 seconds. Edison would struggle in qualifying around the 0.438 mile short track, posting a time of 15.757 seconds, 0.265 seconds behind Whitelion's time, placing him 30th on the starting line up. Milwaukee Mile last-place finisher the #87 AER Manufacturing Chevrolet of Josh Harmon would be the last to get in on speed, posting a time of 15.790 seconds, who was 0.298 seconds behind Whitelion's lap time.

On race night, Harmon would trail for the first turn before knocking the #1 Mopar Performance Dodge of Angel Gutiérrez into last in Turn 2, with Gutiérrez trailing the first lap. Gutiérrez would fight back the next few laps, failing to gain a spot until for laps later when he knocked and passing Harmon, placing Harmon in last and trailing on Lap 5. Harmon would trail for the next three laps before he would knock points leader the #51 unsponsored Chevrolet of Zachary Fitzwater into last on Lap 9, a position he would hold for three laps before knocking Edison, who had been stuck up on the high line of the track since Lap 10, into the final spot on Lap 12. Edison would struggle to gain any positions over the final laps, and nearly went a lap down to the race leaders, but was able to beat them to the line by half a truck length, giving Edison his fourth last-place finish of the season.

The remaining Bottom Five were: 35th was the aforementioned #51 of Zachary Fitzwater, 34th was the #34 Sprint Prepaid Phonecard Dodge of Brian Fox, 33rd was the #75 Spears Manufacturing Chevrolet of Michael Hoaks and 32nd was the #87 of Josh Harmon.

By virtue of finishing last, Derrick Edison has locked up the LASTCAR title. Even if another driver finished last in the last two races at Texas and California, Edison would win the tie breaker by having more Bottom 5 finishes.

TRUCKS: Derrick Edison trails the field at Las Vegas; extends LASTCAR lead with three races to go



Derrick Edison picked up the 3rd last place finish of his SCRL Rainbow Dash Truck Series career in the The Orleans 250 at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway when his #26 Mittler Brothers / American Trucking Ford completed all 17 laps under power.

The finish, which came in his 92nd career series start, was his first on the circuit since the NAPA 250 at the Martinsville Speedway when he fell out with camshaft problems after completing 5 of the 34 laps; 17 races ago. In the Truck Series's last-place rankings, it was the 39th for running at the finish and 3rd for the #26. Across SCRL's top three series, it was the 129th for running at the finish and the 3rd for #26.

After trailing the field at Martinsville, Edison would finish 23rd in the next round at Memphis, back-to-back finishes of 32nd at Pikes Peak and I-70 before scoring his second career truck series victory by winning at Bristol. A 16th at Texas would be followed by a 36th at Portland, 35th at Watkins Glen, 26th at the Milwaukee Mile, a runner up finish at Nashville to rookie Jamie Timber before scoring back-to-back 9th place finishes at Nazareth and the series first ever race at Michigan. A 12th at Loudon would be followed by a 22nd at IRP, a 6th at Gateway, 35th at Heartland Park before leading 11 laps and finishing 3rd at Richmond in the last round. Entering Las Vegas, Edison sits 26th in the driver standings, 521 points behind Zachary Fitzwater.

The entry list for the ninth time this season would be bumped up to 37 as Team 23 Racing made their sixth appearance of the season, the last being at Richmond. In qualifying, Michael Hoaks would score his first career series pole, posting a time of 31.950 seconds. Edison would truck struggle in qualifying around the 1.500 mile track, posting a time of 32.172 seconds, 0.222 seconds behind Hoaks's time, placing him 33rd on the starting line up. Two time last-place finisher the #45 Acxiom Ford of Matthew Hubert would be the last to get in on speed, posting a time of 32.226 seconds, who was 0.276 seconds behind Hoaks's lap time.

On race day, Hubert would trail in the final spot for only the first two turns before knocking Mesa Marin last-place finisher the #09 AT&T Chevrolet of Chakat Duskwatcher into last as Duskwatcher would trail the first lap. Duskwatcher however was determined to not finish last again as shi knocked the #17 Hollandia Sunroofs Chevrolet of Lucien Bianchi into last on Lap 2. Bianchi would trail for just one lap as well before he knocked the #60 CAT Rental Stores Chevrolet of Christian Russel to last on Lap 3. Russel would trail for two laps before he would pass and knock two-time last-place finisher the Dodge Motorsports Dodge of Chris Kyle into last on Lap 6, as Kyle would trail for only one lap himself before he knocked Michigan last-place finisher the #8 GM Goodwrench Service Plus Chevrolet of Riley Spurlytube into last on Lap 7, a position he would hold for just one lap before knocking Chakat Duskwatcher back into last for the second time of the race on Lap 8.

Duskwatcher would trail the tail end of the field for four laps before shi would knock points leader the #51 unsponsored Chevrolet of Zachary Fitzwater into last on Lap 12. Fitzwatcher, looking to keep his season long streak of no last-place finishes would remain in last just for one lap before he knocked Matthew Hubert back into the final spot on Lap 13. Hubert would remain in last for only one circuit before knocking Edison, who had been riding around in the low 20s all race, had finally falling back to the tail end of the field with four laps to go, would drop back to last on Lap 14, and despite trying his best to make position, he would run out of time and would trail the leaders by three seconds when the checkered flag waved.

TRUCKS: Matthew Hubert trails for the second time in his career at Richmond



Matthew Hubert picked up the 2nd last place finish of his SCRL Rainbow Dash Truck Series career in the Virginia Is For Lovers 200 at the Richmond International Raceway when his #45 10-10-345 Ford completed all 20 laps under power.

The finish, which came in his 21st career series start, was his first on the circuit since the NAPA Autocare 200 at the Nazareth Speedway when he completed 17 of the 20 laps under power; 6 races ago. In the Truck Series's last-place rankings, it was the 38th for running at the finish and 2nd for the #45. Across SCRL's top three series, it was the 128th for running at the finish and the 5th for #45.

After trailing the field for the first time ever at Nazareth, Hubert would struggle in the series debut at Michigan by finishing 24th repeating that performance in the next round at Loudon, 21st at IRP, 27th at Gateway before finishing 10th in the last round at Heartland Park. Entering Richmond, Hubert sits 9th in the driver points and 2nd in the Rookie of the Year points.

The entry list for the eighth time this season would be bumped up to 37 as Team 23 Racing made their fifth appearance of the season, the last being at Nashville where the rookie scored a surprising win. However this time instead of Jamie, Blaise Zebrataur was listed on the entry list as the driver. In qualifying, Christian Russel would score his second career series pole, posting a time of 23.451 seconds. Hubert would truck struggle in qualifying around the 0.750 mile track, posting a time of 23.892 seconds, 0.441 seconds behind Russel's time, placing him 34th on the starting line up. The #31 Auto Trim Design Ford of Kristian Bracken would be the last to get in on speed, posting a time of 24.018 seconds, who was 0.567 seconds behind Russel's lap time. Joining them at the back was the #23 Red Line Oil Ford of Jamie Timber, who would make a driver swap with Blaise Zebtataur who had qualified the truck in 9th.

On race night, Timber would trail for the first lap before knocking Bracken back to last, who would trail for two laps before knocking Memphis last-place finisher the #86 Royal Crown Cola Dodge of Cameron Hathaway into last on Lap 4. Hathaway would trail for two laps before knocking the #32 Miller Brothers Garage Dodge of Juniper Skunktaur into last on Lap 6. Skunktaur would trail just one lap before knocking Hathaway back into last on Lap 7 before Bracken would take last back for the second time on Lap 8. Bracken would trail for two laps once again before passing and knocking Hubert back to last for the first time on Lap 11. Hubert would struggle to gain positions over the final nine laps and would be in the final spot when crossing the start/finish line to complete the race.

TRUCKS: Colin Dryburgh trails the field at Heartland Park Topeka



Colin Dryburgh picked up the 2nd last place finish of his SCRL Rainbow Dash Truck Series career in the O'Reilly Auto Parts 275 at the Heartland Park Topeka when his #55 Icehouse Beer Ford completed all 8 laps under power.

The finish, which came in his 57th career series start, was his first on the circuit since the NAPA 300K at the Pikes Peak International Raceway when he completed all 19 laps under power; 13 races ago. In the Truck Series's last-place rankings, it was the 37th for running at the finish and 3rd for the #55. Across SCRL's top three series, it was the 127th for running at the finish and the 3rd for #55.

After trailing the field for the first time ever at Pikes Peak, Dryburgh would continue to struggle in the next round by finishing 24th at I-70 before rebounding with a 16th at Bristol, a 10th at Texas, a 20th at Portland, a 21st at Watkins Glen, before finishing 5th at the Milwaukee Mile. Back-to-back finishes of 4th at Nashville and Nazareth would be followed by a disappointing 31st at the series first ever race at Michigan before rebounding with a 3rd at Loudon, a 5th at IRP before finishing 11th in the last round at Gateway and would enter Heartland Park 2nd in points.

The entry list for the seventh time this season would be bumped up to 37 as Blaise Zebrataur's Roush Racing team made their third and final appearance of the season. In qualifying, Mitchell Hodack would score his second career series pole, posting a time of 97.512 seconds. Dryburgh would truck struggle in qualifying around the 2.100 mile 18 turned track, posting a time of 100.340 seconds, 2.828 seconds behind Hodack's time, placing him 31st on the starting line up. Michigan last-place finisher the #8 GM Goodwrench Service Chevrolet would be the last to get in on speed, posting a time of 100.865 seconds, who was 3.353 seconds behind Hodack's lap time.

On race day, Spurlytube would not remain in last for long, as by Turn 5 he had knocked the #12 Team ASE / Ultra Wheels Ford of Reggie Fogleman into the last spot, with Fogleman trailing for the first lap. As the laps would count down, Fogleman would continue to struggle staying caught up with the pack, trailing for the first six laps and appeared on his way to his first ever last-place finish. However late in the race, Dryburgh, who had fallen back since the start, would be knocked back into the final spot just before the field took the white flag. Dryburgh would struggle over the final two miles, losing almost a second to Fogleman over the final lap and would be trailing the field when the checkered flag waved, more than forty seconds behind the race leaders.

TRUCKS: Zachary DiLello trails in second straight race at Gateway



Zachary DiLello picked up the 2nd last place finish of his SCRL Rainbow Dash Truck Series career in the Ram Tough 200 at the Gateway International Raceway when his #21 HS Die & Engineering Ford completed all 16 laps under power.

The finish, which came in his 19th career series start, was his first on the circuit since the Power Stroke 200 by Ford at the Indianapolis Raceway Park when his #21 HS Die & Engineering Ford completed all 20 laps under power; 1 race ago. In the Truck Series's last-place rankings, it was the 36th for running at the finish and 2nd for the #21. Across SCRL's top three series, it was the 126th for running at the finish and the 4th for #21.

After a disappointing finish at IRP, DiLello and his Steele Racing team was looking forward to rebounding by having a good running in the Truck Series second ever appearance at the 1.250 mile speedway as both driver and team would be making their first ever attempt at the track. With DiLello placed 13th in points and 3rd in the Rookie of the Year, DiLello's season needed to be turned around if he was going to be a contender in both.

The entry list for the thirteenth time this season would the usual 36 entries. In qualifying, Chakat Whitelion would score hir fourth career series pole, posting a time of 35.742 seconds. DiLello would truck struggle in qualifying around the 1.250 mile track, posting a time of 35.996 seconds, 0.254 seconds behind Whitelion's time, placing him 30th on the starting line up. Texas last-place finisher the #16 NAPA Auto Parts Chevrolet of Samet Ozkan would be the last to get in on speed, posting a time of 36.170 seconds, who was 0.428 seconds behind Whitelion's lap time.

On race night, DiLello would start his night off well as he would knock the #24 GMAC Financial Services Chevrolet of Alexander Rowe into last place as Rowe would trail for the first lap and than the second before he'd knock DiLello back to last once again on Lap 3. DiLello would remain in the final spot over the next five laps before making a move and knocking Nashville last-place finisher the #2 Team ASE Racing Ford of Dilan Ebrahimian into last on Lap 9. Ebrahimian would struggle to keep up with the field over the final laps as it appeared he'd be finishing last for the second time this season as the field took the white flag. DiLello however at this time was struggling for grip on the track and would be passed by Ebrahimian in Turn 2 on the final lap and would be unable to regain the position back over the final two turns and would cross the start/finish line in last place for the second straight race.

TRUCKS: Zachary DiLello trails for first time in his career at IRP



Zachary DiLello picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL Rainbow Dash Truck Series career in the Power Stroke 200 by Ford at the Indianapolis Raceway Park when his #21 HS Die & Engineering Ford completed all 20 laps under power.

The finish came in his 18th career series start. In the Truck Series's last-place rankings, it was the 35th for running at the finish and 1st for the #21. Across SCRL's top three series, it was the 125th for running at the finish and the 3rd for #21.

DiLello was one of seventeen drivers that were making their Rainbow Dash Truck Series debuts, as well as one of a record nineteen drivers competing for Rookie of the Year, choosing to sign to drive for Steele Racing, who were also making their debut season in the Truck Series. DiLello would be impressive in his debut by finishing 13th at Homestead, finishing 35th at Phoenix, 14th at Evergreen before scoring his first ever Top 10 by finishing 7th at Mesa Marin. A 34th at Martinsville would be followed by a career best runner up at Memphis followed by a 9th at Pikes Peak, 16th at I-70, 35th at Bristol, 6th at Texas, 28th at Portland, 13th at Watkins Glen, 17th at Milwaukee Mile, 17th at Nashville, 5th at Nazareth, 21st at Michigan before finishing 4th in the last round at New Hampshire.

The entry list for the twelfth time this season would the usual 36 entries. In qualifying, Chris Kyle would score his fourth career series pole, posting a time of 23.368 seconds. DiLello would truck struggle in qualifying around the 0.686 mile track, posting a time of 40.940 seconds, 0.324 seconds behind Kyle's time, placing him 29th on the starting line up. The #1 Mopar Performance Dodge of Angel Gutiérrez would be the last to get in on speed, posting a time of 32.064 seconds, who was 0.440 seconds behind Kyle's lap time.

On race night, Gutiérrez would struggle for the first few laps around the track as he would trail for the first five laps before knocking the #44 Federated Auto Parts Ford of Mitchell Hodack on Lap 6 as Hodack would trail behind the field for the next six laps before he knocked Watkins Glen last-place finisher the #83 Gwaltney / FW Siebert Construction Ford of Max Anderson into last on Lap 12. Anderson's stay in the final spot would only last two laps before knocking DiLello into last on Lap 14. DiLello would try over the remaining six laps to gain a spot to prevent from finishing last for the first time in his career but would not have the power as he finished a full eighteen seconds behind the race leaders when the checkered flag waved.

TRUCKS: Flat Tire gives Nick Holiday his first last-place finish in Truck Series; becomes sixth driver to finish last in all three Top Series



Nick Holiday picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL Rainbow Dash Truck Series career in the Pennzoil / VIP Auto Discount Auto Center 200 at the New Hampshire International Speedway when his #68 Hot Wheels Dodge completed 17 of the 20 laps under power.

The finish came in his 68th career series start. In the Truck Series's last-place rankings, it was the 34th for running at the finish and 1st for the #68. Across SCRL's top three series, it was the 124th for running at the finish and the 1st for #68.

Holiday, who made his first appearance in the Truck Series back in Season 2, has built up a decent career, having scored 1 win in the Truck Series, coming at Memphis in Season 4, 5 Top 5s, 11 Top 10s and 49 laps led, with a best finish of 22nd in points in Season 4. Holiday would choose to sign with Impact Motorsports for his third ever season and it would start off with a 7th at Homestead, 22nd at Phoenix before finishing 26th at Evergreen, in what was the series's 100th race. A 17th at Mesa Marin would be followed by his second career series win at Martinsville before finishing 29th at Memphis, the site of his first career win the season previously. A 8th at Pikes Peak would be followed with a 14th at I-70, 18th at Bristol, 30th at Texas, 10th at Portland, 32nd at Watkins Glen, 28th at Milwaukee Mile, 11th at Nashville, 8th at Nazareth before finishing 18th in the last round at Michigan.

The entry list for the eleventh time this season would the usual 36 entries. In qualifying, Al Lagasee would score his first career series pole, posting a time of 31.620 seconds. Holiday would truck struggle in qualifying around the 1.058 mile track, posting a time of 40.940 seconds, 0.344 seconds behind Lagasee's time, placing him 32nd on the starting line up. Two-time last-place finisher the unsponsored #38 unsponsored Chevrolet of Ashton Tifft would be the last to get in on speed, posting a time of 32.064 seconds, who was 0.444 seconds behind Lagasee's lap time.

On race day, the battle for last ended seconds after the drivers were given the command to start the engines as Holdiay's truck would slow coming off of pit road, with the truck pulling to the inside line and limping before stalling on the backstretch. The truck would be towed back to pit road as the race went green, with the crew replacing all four tires, finding that the left rear was completely flat, before sending their driver back out onto the track, having lost three laps to the race leaders. Hoping that another truck would have problems, Holiday would race around the track, posting lap times just a hundredth off the race leaders, but a lack of incidents would bring no cautions, with Holiday being the only driver to not finish on the same lap as the race leaders.
