John Arndt picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL Lucas Oil ARCA Racing Series career in the Season 1 Pocono ARCA 200 at the Pocono Raceway when his #66 Phoenix Air Toyota fell out with piston problems without completing any of the 9 laps.
The finish came in his 7th career start. Arndt was one of several rookies making their SCRL debuts by competing in the ARCA Series with the hopes of one day racing in the Cup Series. Arndt's ARCA season started off with a 23rd at Daytona, 18th at Atlanta, 12th at Charlotte, 35th at Talladega, 10th at Gateway before finishing a disappointing 39th in the last round at Kentucky.
On race day, Arndt was scheduled to roll off starting 1st while starting last was the #44 Richard Petty Driving Experience Dodge of Josh Nixey but just seconds after the field started to pull off pit road Arndt's car began to start smoking as the driver quickly pulled aside to allow the other drivers to drive by as he tried to figure out what was wrong with the car, costing back around to pit road as the green flag waved, Arndt's car was pushed behind the wall with the Venturini Motorsports team looking over the cause with them finding that the piston had broken, ending their day when it appeared it was going to be a career day for their driver.
The remaining Bottom Five would be filled up before Lap 3 as a multi-car crash would break out coming out of Turn 1: 40th was the #20 Coal - America's Energy Chevrolet of AJ Jones, 39th was the #17 Roulo Brothers Racing Ford of Tommy Hudson, 38th was the #15 RaceHard.com / Accelerade Toyota of Riley Spurlytube and 37th was Charlotte last-place finisher the #69 Tilted Kilt Pub & Eatery Ford of Daniel Bouchard.
